Yeah they still bring it out every so often. Played it about 15 times on the KoL tour, and a handful of times on the 2016 AMSP tourtragabigzanda wrote:Do they ever play Planet Telex anymore?

I chucked on some Radiohead last night - my wife accused me of being way too white

Just stumbled across this. The first 15 seconds made me chuckle. Some numbskull yelled out "anyone can play guitar". thom's reaction.

Re: The everyone LOVES radiohead thread!
I had to google Ravi Shankar. Think I'm pretty safe that she won't be listening to that.
She questioned how I could love stuff like Sam Cooke, Leon Bridges, Marvin Gaye etc..... and then love Radiohead

They've only ever covered like 10-11 songs, none of them regularly, and most of them Neil Young. I think the last cover that was even kind of a regular was "The Thief" in 2000-2001.CopperTom wrote:It should be noted, 6 concerts and 0 cover songs.
They haven't played it this year but they did a few times last year. They don't do the piano intro anymore, though. It's all guitar effects. I remember it was my #1 song I wanted in 2008 and they closed with it. That was pretty sweet.tragabigzanda wrote:I shared a list of the top 5 songs I wanted to hear in Seattle. Shit, now I have to go see them again and I have no idea when the hell or how I'm going to accomplish this.

Re: The everyone LOVES radiohead thread!
Last night's show took me back at times to how long it's been since I first got into Radiohead, which was sometime in 1995. And I thought, "it's really been like 22 years?". It's amazing how time passes.
So when I got home from work I threw on this gem:
==================================
RADIOHEAD
June 20, 1995
Imperial Hall
Osaka, Japan
Setlist:
My Iron Lung
Anyone Can Play Guitar
Bones
High And Dry
The Bends
Prove Yourself
Pop Is Dead
Black Star
Fake Plastic Trees
Bulletproof...I Wish I Was
Sulk
Creep
Planet Telex
Just
Killer Cars
Nice Dream
Street Spirit
Blow Out
Subterranean Homesick Alien
Stop Whispering
Rare performances abound: "Sulk", one of the last-ever versions of "Pop is Dead", "Killer Cars", an early "Subterranean Homesick Alien" and more Pablo Honey than you'll find at almost any point post-1994. Most interestingly: this is one of the few times they played every song on The Bends live in the same show (which they did at the following show too). All of the shows from the 1995 Japanese tour are incredible, but I think this one is the best.

Will have to check out that show Matt
They played Planet Telex at the Sydney show I saw in 2012 - it followed an awesome There There and feel a bit flat IMO (like a misplaced Cropduster
).
Unfortunately it was the only song from The Bends they played that night.

There are a lot of songs on that setlist that I doubt we'll ever see played again. I still think they'll play High and Dry at some point. But like Planet Telex, that's a song that I much prefer the studio version over the live version. It's sounds extremely empty live.

Re: The everyone LOVES radiohead thread!
listening to the In Rainbows Disk 2 on headphones...
Is the faint sound effect in the first 3 seconds of "Go Slowly" (before the song 'starts') the same sound at the beginning of "The National Anthem" — just slightly muted and distorted?

PT without the piano intro sounds criminal. That's the best part of the song!matt reeder wrote:They've only ever covered like 10-11 songs, none of them regularly, and most of them Neil Young. I don't know about that. The Cambridge '95 version is pretty fucking good. And it blew me away when I first heard it on the MTV 10 Spot broadcast. The album version revealed itself to me as a typical cluttered, flattened out Radiohead production.Chris_H_2 wrote:Planet Telex, that's a song that I much prefer the studio version over the live version.
