- Luke saying the Jedi must end give new meaning to the opening line of The Force Awakens.
- I don't think is going bad. I think he finally understands how detrimental the Jedi have been to the galaxy. He wants to correct that.
- Was that Ren's helmet all smashed up?
- How about that shot of the hooded figure and R2. Clearly that's part of the scene that was cut from TFA but that we saw in the (second?) trailer!
- These shots are fucking GORGEOUS.
- It looks totally different from any other Star Wars film but still feels like it's part of the same story.
- Rey is such a badass.
- This is going to be GREAT.

I thought it was Darth Vader. The shots are gorgeous and does feel a little less JJ Abrams and a tiny bit grittier. I love it. Explain what you mean by giving the first line of TFA more meaning....

It has it's obvious context and intention. BUT if this whole thing is really about Luke and the end of the Jedi Order and bringing balance to the Force (there are a lot of ties to The Clone Wars and Rebels; this could tie everything together, unite the Star Wars film, tv, and book universe in profound ways), then getting the map to where Luke is hiding is even bigger than we thought. There's a lot more weight to that line. It's not just making the galaxy right. It's not just about defeating the Firs Order. It's not just a meta-jab at the Star Wars film franchise. It's about beginning to move toward balance. It's so HUGE in the context of Luke's line about ending the Jedi. It's fucking amazing.

Say what you want about JJ as a film maker but the guy knows how to tell and weave a story. This new trilogy might hang together really tightly and maybe make more sense as a total arc than the other two trilogies. And if that's true, and if it's been planned from the beginning, then that opening line is fucking PROFOUND.

Daisy Ridley stated during the panel something about meeting your idols and finding out they aren't really who you were hoping they'd be in regards to Rey and Luke dynamic.

I think this is all tying back to what George intended with the prequels and explored more fully in The Clone Wars: the Jedi aren't as noble and good as they believe themselves to be. This new trilogy might connect some major dots and provide real closure. It might all come full circle. Christ this is exciting! I'm having a hard time articulating what I'm thinking/feeling about those images and that line.

So, that shot about a minute in is of a book shelf. Then next shot is the faded Jedi Order logo (from the Old Republic). Do we think it's possible that symbol is on the cove of a book? And if so, is that book... the journal of the Whills?
