He gave them to me.

Hope I don't have to sit through rogue one first.

Maybe I'll just duck in for the last half hour and then watch a real Star Wars film after

Remember that scene in the trailer?

Mon mothma tells Jyn they've recover a secret transmission from her father.



Why did they change that to show Saw Gerrara?

It makes no sense.

She's in the rebel base and she's all fuck this.

Thats the moment you show her that transmission.

Instead they swapped it out to some irrelevant scene *after she's agreed to join the mission*.

She has no impetus or reason or agency to join them at that point. In fact she acts against it.

It's a total nonsensical moment at the crux of the main characters arc.

It's stupid. Among many other stupid moments in this film.
That's my biggest problem with this film.

And I hated the first 2 acts but loved the final act. That hasn't changed.

It's not one I can see myself convincing myself it's great.

Imagine Vader was holding the door shut on top of holding the guy against the ceiling& blocking and killing everything at the same time? But did they do that?

No.

This film sucks.

Now that it's out people are cottoning on to the fact that rogue one has about five times as many self referential nods and winks and fan servicey Star Wars tropes than force awakens has and is still accused of.

Dr evezan and R2 and 3PO being the worst offenders

It doesn't stand on its own. It totally depends on the oxygen of a new hope to work.


I hope to god the references and connections stop here. If there's any of it in the Han movie behind absolute necessity it'll be eyeroll time.

I wouldn't read too much into the Luke line at the end, but I will. A story about him wanting to end jedi because it perhaps would guarantee an end to the Sith seems kind of dopey and obvious and for those reasons I hope that I'm wrong with that prediction.
