This. If they could get back to the experimentation with songs and sounds that they had during the Binaural, Riot Act and S/T sessions, we would be amazed again. BS and LB had some decent songs, but weren't very complex. Maybe they just wanted to write songs that were a little easier to digest and play live? Whatever the case, I hope they start challenging us once more. I love Matt's songs because they're outside of the box writing. Love that on the last tour, they started playing more of those songs again. :)
The Canadian shows had some of my favorite setlists in recent years.

I was under the impression that the band settled with him over royalties or something? Or am i just making that up?

If Dave had actually attended, would he have been invited onstage like Jack was for RITFW?

They would have brought him up on stage after Dave K. And as soon as he was seated behind the kit, Ed would have said, "This next one is called... Go." The crowed would have cheered madly. Then Ed would say, "No, seriously, dude. Go. Get the fuck out of here." And they would have kicked him off stage before he could play a note.

Everything else about the night would have been exactly the same.

The funny thing about that is most of the album tracks from BS and LB weren't played all that regularly and, when they were, often sounded pretty bad.

It probably doesn't help that lots of those songs weren't even attempted at their recorded key.

They should record them in the same key they perform them. Lots of bands do it and especially if Ed can't hit the notes anymore, then a change is needed. I noticed the down tuning more in 2015-2016. There's a few excellent shows in 2013 and 2014. Trimming some of the set list would help a little as well. The longer shows are cool, but if Ed' spent the last 45 minutes, then what's the point? Another problem is that by the time they get warmed up, the tour's over.

truly. that's what he deserves for putting his heart and soul into the band's best years and being fired because the lead singer was going through a divorce/identity crisis and needed a scapegoat

1. Dave A
2. Jack Irons
3. Matt Chamberlain
4. Dave K
5. Matt Cameron

Dave K is only above Matt Cameron in my ranking because the drumming in Alive is so perfect that it beats out any drumming Cameron has done in PJ.

To Cameron's credit I think he's the second best songwriter in that list behind Jack Irons.

On balance...

1. Jack
2. Matt Cameron
3. Dave A.
4. Dave K.

I know Matt C. over Dave A. is controversial, but I really love the songs he's written for the band, and Binaural/Riot Act is a great one-two punch. I really dislike what he does to the older songs live, though, especially Jack's.

I love Matt Chamberlain as a drummer but I can't rank his drumming in Pearl Jam because I simply haven't heard much of it.

Serious question. For those many people that rank Jack above Dave A, why do you do so? For me, his drumming on material from the first 3 albums is certainly inferior to that of Dave A. Is it for the 3 albums and single he did with the band?
