If / when they ever release a deluxe version of Yield, I hope we get those. I doubt it though. We'll probably just get a shitty remastered album with that concert where they played all of Yield last year.evenslow wrote:I would kill to hear this stuff.EJ wrote:Those two songs, plus "Thin Air" were all part of the Yield sessions. The album shows are my least favorite bootlegs. I'm sure it would've been cool to witness, but I'm so glad I didn't go to Greenville last year or any of the other album shows. I do applaud them for playing Binaural, though. Unfortunately, there probably won't be anymore Super Deluxe Editions of the albums, either. The big $$ albums are the only ones that received that treatment. I just hope we get some more studio outtakes from 95-98 at some point.darth_vedder wrote:If / when they ever release a deluxe version of Yield, I hope we get those. I doubt it though. Before I found ridleybradout and JWB's remixes, I broke the non album material into sections. Part 1: The Embryonic Stage featured Dave K and Dave A, Part 2: All Encompassing Trip featured Jack and Part 3:Driving Through Twilight (or something like that) was the Matt mix. As much as I love Binaural and the early songs, I still felt that the Jack mix was the best of the 3.
All Encompassing Trip
1.Catholic Boy
2.I Got Id
3.Long Road
4.All Night
5.Don't Gimme No Lip
6.Black, Red, Yellow
7.Dead Man
8.Sunburn
9.Leaving Here
10.Gremmie Out Of Control
11.Olympic Platinum
12.Happy When I'm Crying
13.Whale Song
14.Leatherman
15.U
16.Falling Down (live)
17.No Jeremy (live)
18.Smile (live)
I really wish they'd just release some of the 95/96 shows

I for one, just cannot stand the drumming style on vitalogy sooo boring and unimpressive, one-handed drumming from dave a. "boom, boom, boom, boom". no crazy fills, no crazy drumrolls. and on the other hand jacks drumming on brain of jfk. so impressive, the crazy fills are everywhere.

I think Dave was a little restrained on the album. Listen to a few of those songs from earlier live performances and he definitely strips some flare for the studio tracks. Rather disappointing in comparison. Dave is a star on VS but Vitalogy not so much.wease wrote:You're not listening closely enough.taffer wrote:I for one, just cannot stand the drumming style on vitalogy sooo boring and unimpressive, one-handed drumming from dave a. I think he's great on Vitalogy. He kills it on Last Exit and Whipping.

Yeah, he's restrained there, but I think it's appropriate to the straightforward momentum of the song. Ornate fills and such would have been out of place.Strat wrote:Im thinking im mostly disappointed in Not For You.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I think he's great on Vitalogy. One minute Dave A is too busy the next he's too straight. one guy says a good drummer is one you don't notice, the next says he should contribute moments. Vitalogy has plenty of great drumming moments (1:14 whipping, his kick is joyous)but the strength of Vitalogy is how the sum is greater. And all of the instrumentation support and help focus the singer.
