I'm finally starting to seek out Petty's albums thanks to this thread's perpetual fixture on the top of this forum.

Giving Damn The Torpedoes a try on the strength of "Here Comes My Girl," which has always been my favorite Tom Petty song.

I fucking LOVE Here Comes My Girl.

You get three distinct Tom Petty voices to impersonate when singing along. And when Benmont really turns it on with the keys in the final verse it just really scratches where I itch. It might be my favorite overall too, definitely in the top handful.

I'm not sure where I'd rank HCMG. But I know it would be high.

I've been trying to put a top 10 together for weeks. Here Comes My Girl is probably in the top 2 as well.

Here Comes My Girl
You Don't Know How It Feels
Breakdown
To Find a Friend
Yer So Bad
Listen to Her Heart
You Wreck Me
Something in the Air
Don't Come Around Here No More
Shadow of a Doubt

This is off the cuff so it could change with more thought.

Granted I'm only familiar with his singles, but this one has always stood alone. The band and Petty's voice find a groove together that is unmatched to my ears.

You know what I always thought was a really underrated gem? 'Alright for Now.' What a quiet yet effective little lullaby.

The regret actually set it in before I hit submit and I did it anyway.
