Why does he feel out of place?

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I liked him a lot, except for the dumb walk at the end.
I like the idea of a force sensitive guy that never had a chance to get training or a fancy lightsaber. Kinda tragic.

Feels like he belongs in a different Sci Fi movie, like The Matrix.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Why does he feel out of place?

Based on what? He seems perfectly at home in the world the movie creates to me.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Maybe that's the problem - the whole movie. I didn't like it at all, except the last 2 minutes and K2SO.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Based on what? He seems perfectly at home in the world the movie creates to me.
The way he delivers the line "are you kidding me? I'm blind" was terrible. Repeating "I am one the force, the force is with me" got irritating really quick. I just hated everything about his character.

I didn't "love" them, but I had no problem with Chirrut. He's not even the most out of place character in this movie, let alone Star Wars.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I don't know if any character has ever felt out of place in SW to me, which is partially because SW has never felt like a particularly well-defined universe. I find it kind of ironic that the most popular sci-fi property of all time is so fast and loose with its tone, aesthetic, and general world-building.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
true, but the whole 50s diner thing was so weirdly specific and bizarre. Does the Star Wars universe have a Happy Days?B wrote:Every character in that movie is out of place.BurtReynolds wrote:B wrote:I didn't "love" them, but I had no problem with Chirrut. The only other thing I could think of is the devil guy in Mos Eisley, but he could just be a horned alien guy.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
One thing I love about all you guys in your criticisms and takes in Star Wars is you none of you have ever said the words Mary Sue with regards Rey or Jyn.
You're all better than that which is the dumbest most base attempt at criticism possible.
Mary Sue is a bullshit accusation and pisses me off.
Is luke not the same? Hears about the force for the first time on Monday. And by Wednesday he's flying a fighter jet and then blowing up a Death Star? yet nobody mentions that.
Congrats for being higher minded.

Yeah, the Mary Sue argument is not interesting to me at all.
