I'm working on it as we speak. There are just so many great songs. I keep leaving something off. :|

I could have just put down all songs from Wildflowers if I wanted to.

The 50th anniversary vinyl sounds amazing. Not hearing as many new things in the mix as I did on the Pepper & White remasters, but this will still be the version I put on the turntable moving forward. Haven’t dug all the way in to the extra session cuts yet.

I used to live 5 mins up that road. That crossing pissed me off when I was catching the bus to work.

I don't like the remixes - I think they are crap.

But the outtakes are pretty cool.

I am revisiting (and discovering) the Beatles via Caspar Babypants lately.

Listened to some of the White album and Abbey Road on Spotify. Even with a shitty stream on slightly above average computer speakers, I heard more depth to the music and the drums sounded way more powerful. Helter Skelter was amazing.

...and we’re off! Listened to Please Please Me and With the Beatles on the way in and during my run.

Please Please Me - I found this for the most part to be full of throwaway pop fluff, though there are certainly some gems here. Anna (Go to Him), P.S. I Love You, and A Taste of Honey are little flares of brilliance that I think they eventually build on. The singles are the singles and are pretty good. The winner is the cover of Twist and Shout, which is still quite great. Overall a mediocre start to the experience.

With the Beatles - I would say mostly more of the same, though perhaps slightly improved. The singles I liked better than the first album. I really liked It Won’t Be Long and the covers are really excellent here. You Really Got a Hold On Me and Money were both two highlights. Again I would classify this as mediocre and almost boring though I am sure it didn’t feel that way for the kids in 1963.

Between the two, and I will note they are easily discussed together, this really feels like a band without its voice yet, especially with what I know is to come.
