You wouldn't have had the chance friend.
It's ok, you're still the best thing I ever had.

I almost picked Breakdown first. Yer So Bad has been bouncing around my head all week.

You Don't Know How It Feels will always remind me of watching VH1's Top 20 Countdown on Sunday mornings in my parent's room.

it's a damned near perfect recording

I get so pissed when I turn on Tom Petty Radio and a live version is playing.

Like I said earlier in maybe this thread or the main one, I'm pretty unfamiliar with this guy's music aside from the classics.
Welcome to the tourney then! most importantly, welcome to Tom Petty. He is pretty taken for granted because he's just kind of been this consistent but good to great song writer for so long. I feel he often gets overlooked. There are so many amazing tracks that aren't "hits".
cutuphalfdead wrote:Wait, so are there more songs on that album you haven't heard yet? If so you need to go listen to that record. I mean, after we're done drafting.
Yeah, for the longest time I mostly ignored his music. Never hated anything from him, just kind of took him for granted. Never owned an album of his and actually wasn't aware that he made music past the 70s and 80s. Don't ask me why I thought that, but he was just one of those artists that always sort of ran into the background.

I listened to half of Wildflowers today while on a cleaning binge (on the strength of a couple of glowing Chud posts in the other thread) and the title track instantly stuck out. A few others sounded great too. Again, I can't believe he was recording in the 90s.

I look forward to hearing more and picking songs accordingly, guys. I joined this tournament to learn more of his music and also to make new friends and strengthen existing friendships.

Fuck, there are still great records after Wildflowers! Hypnotic Eye, his recent, is absolutely Top Notch

Must suck to live in an awful part of the country. They didn't censor that shit on Boston radio.

Mike Campbell is also an underrated guitarist. The guy can write a lead melody like no other.
