Here's a fun personal anecdote while we wait for self to make a pick.

Back in the early 90s, I guess it was '92 or '93, some of my friends and I would often take songs that we knew well and change the words of them so that they ended up sounding kind of dirty. We were a bunch of third graders at a Catholic school and we just wanted to feel like we were getting away with something. Example: Around Christmas time, the song "Jingle Bells" would be adapted to sound like this; "Jingle Bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg..." It sounds petty and harmless now, but we really thought that we were hot shit when we did it in the lunch line. Anyway, this was around the same time that Tom Petty's Greatest Hits came out and my friend Ajay's older sister Anita owned the CD. We loved all the songs on that one, and we'd sing along every chance that we got. I don't remember if it was Ajay or myself or maybe even our friend Tommy Haysley who came up with the idea of changing the lyrics to one of the songs on the album, "Free Fallin'", to "I'm free...free ballin'", but I can vividly remember hearing it that way for an entire summer back then. All the bad boys are standing in the shadows, indeed.
