Kind of? Stone actually does this trick a lot. As far back as Alone, he does the same thing. Plays a lick that at first seems like the beginning of a solo but becomes a quick riff refrain of sorts. You know, "I like rhythmic things that butt up against each other in a cool kind of way." Dude's got a real knack for it.
