Fox has finally announced some news.

all coming in 2018

New Mutants - April 12th
Deadpool - May 31st
X-men: Dark Phoenix - Nov 1st

http://comicbook.com/2017/04/22/x-men-m ... eadpool-2/

Kinda surprised to see the main franchise movie getting bumped from the Memorial Day weekend. Looks like Fox is really going to try and capitalize on Deadpool's popularity. I also don't get why theyd release all 3 next year? I'd have pushed one into 2019.

Maybe it's contract or rights issues.

they were supposed to do three movies last year too
Deadpool, Apocalypse, and Channing Tatum as Gambit in a solo movie (that has disappeared)

Youd think theyd go the marvel route and shoot for two a year spread out, instead of 3 one year, then 1 the next, but as you said, maybe its a contract situation, or actor availability. Be interesting what they do with New Mutants, and when in the semi time line it falls.

Depending on the characters that will be represented, I may get really excited about New Mutants.

Or trying to avoid the MAJOR marvel and star wars releases...

Infinity War comes out May 4th... dead smack between New Mutants and Deadpool 2.
Its pretty crazy, how many release Marvel proper, Marvel Fox, Marvel Sony, DC, Star Wars, and a few other franchise movies have coming out over the next few years. Sucks for the smaller movies, they just cant compete.

I finally watched Apocalypse. I just don't think I care about this iteration of any of these characters except Xavier and Magneto (and wolverine), and they've been at the heart of 6 movies already. There's nothing left to do with their relationship. Why is it so hard to make a really good X-men movie?

i think you have to go with Xmen at their core and go along with the persecution complex that was at the heart of the xmen

they are hated and feared but despite that are willing to risk their very lives to help protect that very world that hates them. as cliche as it is you have to have the us vs the world mantra in the background. while they may save the planet people are always going to be leary of people born this way while giving people who acquire their powers by accident get a free pass

though i have read they are going for the dark phoenix saga for the next series i dont think you can do much with this story line involving earth unless they totally butcher the story

They want to release a new X-Men movie in less than two years? Are they even filming at this point? And how much OT will the poor effects houses have to do to manage this schedule? Holy crap.

They were my favorite characters when I was reading comics. I like the characters on paper, and I like the stories and I like the central ideas. My issue is with the execution.

My prescription is the exact opposite of Peeps. The persecution complex that worked so well in the 70's and 80's is played out. It no longer feels relevant. X-Men need to be superheroes again. Mostly they need to cast those movies better.

I agree bada.
Honestly, why should people care anymore HOW superheroes get their powers? There's too many of them.
Time to give up the persecuted viewpoint and just fight the bad guys.

I would completely disagree that the persecution stuff is played out. I don't know if it's the casting, the bland color palette, the scripts, or what

Without the persecution thing, there is no reason for xmen to exist.

Might as well say Spider-Man doesn't shoot webs.

I guess I'm talking more on a Macro Marvel level that everyone with super-powers is cool except Mutants is played out. It's a bore. The Fox Marvel-Verse only has the X-Men so it can still work as long as its done in an interesting manner like Legion.

If you just ignore all the other movies, X-Men, X2 and Logan make a pretty perfect little trilogy. Very dramatically and thematically satisfying. And no real continuity problems if that sort of thing bothers you.

Fair enough - there's no particular reason to hate or fear mutants in a world of superheroes and super villains. But, as was also said, not a problem for Fox's movieverse
