There's a few that are pretty damn good, though. Pemberton and Telluride are excellent. One I was enamored with on first listen, Quebec City, I tried to listen to it again and cringed when I heard how horrible Once sounded and can't quite get past it. Some shows were fast and others plodded along. Forgotten lyrics and poor enunciation drives me crazy. Ed really should think about using a teleprompter..
As far back as 2003, Ed was regularly fucking up songs like Hail Hail and State Of Love And Trust every night and nobody ever told him to shape up. But then in 2005 he was singing them right again, so he must have re-learned them again in rehearsals. He just forgets shit.
It's all the weed he's smoking and the wine.. lol... When they're on, they're still really good.. This Tulsa show from 2014 is excellent.
Really, Force Of Nature I guess never clicked for them live. I like the live versions for most of Backspacer better than the record. Except Force Of Nature. It needed to be slowed down a little live. Same with LB , the production of those records drives me batshit. They sound too glossy. I didn't like the re-worked Future Days at all. That song is really hit or miss live.
One of the few modern (although it's over 10 years old at this point) versions of Corduroy is this version from Reading 06. Something about the crowd's reaction when the riff kicks in, the fact that it was their first festival since 00 (I think), the opening line "the waiting drove me mad" etc.

The Milan, Buenos Aires and a few other versions drives me nuts. That song didn't really grab me until I saw it in Charlottesville, now it's one of my favorites.
I think "trainwreck" is a huge overstatement for most of these. The only PJ original with an overwhelmingly unfavorable trainwreck-to-total-performances ratio is "Hitchhiker." Most of these are just songs that just never quite caught fire live, or songs that have lost nuance over the years, or songs that were better with other personnel. Not really what I think of when I think "trainwreck."

re: Matt... evenslow / trag... did you see my post on pg. 1? Curious to see if y'all hate all Jack songs with Matt or just like recently?
The "tribal" songs (IMT, WYA, GTF) have sucked since the moment Matt joined. Most of the other ones -- the straightforward rockers -- were awesome for Matt's first several years.

They are too good of musicians for an actual trainwreck.

No Way sounded alright in Milwaukee when they performed Yield. The last time they played it was at LA2 in 2013 The other worst show of the last few years...
