Old DVDs and ripping them to your computer - problems, help?
so I want to get all my PJ dvds onto my computer and ultimately into my iTunes library so i can stream them to my apple tv etc. i've got handbrake and vlc and i thought i could just rip the dvds but my first attempt was with Touring Band and handbrake says it's copyright protected and i can't figure out a way around it. anyone have any advice on how to rip this dvd properly?

I haven't played with this stuff in years, but DVD Decrypter used to do this shit didn't it?
If I wanted to rip to avi or mpeg I'd use DVDFab from memory, which also wasn't fussed about much in the way of copyright protection either.
What format do you want to rip to? Or are you just looking at ripping the Video_TS folder out?

You have to download a program that disables copy protection.

I used to use DVD Shrink when I needed to do this.

handbrake says you can download some encryption software but then when you do macOS says it's too old to use. i'll give dvd shrink a try i suppose?

Step 1: MakeMKV
Step 2: Handbrake
Bonus: it also works for Blu-Ray.
