It's the oddest thing but I really hear Soundgarden in this. Something like Tighter and Tighter.

in fact, i don't hear much going on in that song - pretty dull thing but of course, it lacks crucial elements. i'm curious at best, not really enthusiastic.

I'm surprised that you're the first person to say 'dull', actually. It's slow and plodding, and I don't think that takes away the chance of it being awesome but I'm tempering expectations because of that.

yeah, my feeling is that the upper-register arrangements (guitar, vocals, keys, strings) will make it awesome or drawn-out. PJ never made a dull song imo (bad songs, yes, but not dull ones) so i'm fairly optimistic this will turn out good. it's just too basic at the moment for me to judge or fantisize further than this. and i have no urge to listen to it again as it is.

I'm re-listening, and I'm fantasizing. Wish I wasn't, but I can't help it. If only I could something else.

Wrong. It's weird on the album but not dull.

Seriously though, you think "speed of sound" is an interesting and good song? I think I've listened to the Backspacer version of that song twice. The Ed demo that came out was a little better, but it's really an awful, boring song that goes nowhere.

Can someone tell me around what time of the song they hear strings? I need to really focus and try to hear it.

i dont think there are actually any strings there. A couple folks are just saying "Oh, this spot, this is where i imagine strings would be"

You should probably give it more than 2 listens before you form any opinion that you are going to try and argue.

In that last minute its sounds like some hard, driving strings, reminiscent of Kashmir. Not 100%, but pretty sure they are there.

Yes I do think it's an interesting and good song. It's not thoroughly complex and it's quiet, slow and mellow. It doesn't go anywhere but does it need to? It's an acoustic country song and I guess I don't expect those to go anywhere groundbreaking. Production issues and instrumental choices aside, I like the song.
