My local news runs a story every six months or so about this little girl in the area who was born with like 1/4 of a brain and half a skull; her parents knew she had these birth defects but didn't get an abortion because of their religious beliefs. The news always runs it with a headline like, "Drs. said she wouldn't survive, but now baby what-her-name is turning 1 1/2..." It comes off as extremely exploitative and it's so oozingly obvious that the station wants to push a pro-life agenda that it's very icky.

A local beauty salon down here shut down suddenly without informing any customers (many who had gift cards or had already paid for standing appointments) and without paying off any of its debts. But that's not what I'm highlighting; rather, it's this quote:

“She still owes me $3,100,” said Miller said on Thursday. “I got a check from her, but my bank hasn’t cleared it yet. So I don’t know if she stopped payment, or she bounced it or whatever.”

Even after asking for money repeatedly, Miller said the spa owner hasn't been in contact since.

“How do you get somebody to do that and turn around and really zap it to them?” said Miller. “It's wrong. It's really wrong and she needs to pay it forward.”

That's not what "pay it forward" means, you numbskull.
