Sure it could. You could not have to change SD cards.

The sd card never comes out. And there's room for an additional card when it fills up. Nothing ever gets changed. You stupid goddamn idiot.

It looks as though you can insert 2 256GB cards on top of the 32 GB built into the unit.Simple Torture wrote:Do you have more than one memory card that you swap in and out, chud? And if so, is it easy? I feel like I should start thinking about life after the iPod, but I always have 150GB+ on it, so I can't imagine going below 128GB at any one time, especially if I'm adding hi-res files.

Ah! I was under the impression that most of those Fiio players only had 1 card slot. That makes it sound better.

Re: Portable HD music players.
they are selling them, but yeah it looks like they're going to focus on their hi-res streaming service going forward. after attempting for a few months to get to get my unit serviced through their support forms on their website and receiving no reply, i had to post on their community board and the support guy on there replied almost immediately and i had my unit back in two weeks. things are messed up there right now, for sure, so probably best to stay away despite the product being very good.Birds in Hell wrote:![]()
I had been interested in one but I'm not sure they're still selling Pono units anymore, it seems like the whole thing ground to a halt.
ah, copperplate, a font for the truly modern man.

I want one of those Fiio players now. Really ugly designs, though.

And yeah--even though I have an iPod Classic still, I'm considering upgrading.theplatypus wrote:I want one of those Fiio players now. Really ugly designs, though.

Do you mean RSS-wise, or just the playback?Simple Torture wrote:How do they handle podcasts, if at all?
I tried using mine for podcasts because I thought it would be useful to have everything I listen to in one place but there's no variable speed setting (on my player, at least) so I gave up.

It looks like the third generation x5 has a lot of upgrades that make it more smartphoney, so that might have a feature to connect to wifi and handle an rss feed, but the second generation is just a basic player. You can put whatever audio you want on it and listen. So for podcasts I still use my phone because it's easier and I don't care about sound quality.Simple Torture wrote:How do they handle podcasts, if at all?

Re: Portable HD music players.
Since we're past the player point, where do you get your Hi-Res music?
I've ripped some DVD's at their full bit-rate (PJ @ Madison Square Garden, for example) and I've ripped some Blu-Rays (Neil Young Archives Vol 1) but I also have gotten some stuff from HDTracks. I'm kind of pissed at the site lately because they're considering 44.1/24 bit releases "high res" and charging $16 for it. As if.

Honestly, I'm fine with 16 bit 44.1khz.

I have a Gen1 Fiio X1 and I couldn't be happier with it.
I thought of upgrading it to a Fiio x3 but i don't know, does it have two sd slots? can anyone confirm?

Yeah, the dynamics and EQ of the source material matter way more than the resolution of the audio files (to a point, of course - and I'm happy to draw the line at 16/44.1 as being "good enough" in most cases).cutuphalfdead wrote:Honestly, I'm fine with 16 bit 44.1khz.
