I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. Daniel Radcliffe is an exceptional actor. I'll see anything the guy does. He's a total professional and gives everything he has to each role. Big fan of that guy.

Well, that's dumb because the Harry Potter series is outstanding. But if you don't want to watch those, then you should still see everything else he's done.tragabigzanda wrote:I mean, I'm not about to go watch the Harry Potter series...But I'm interested to see him in anything from here on out.

Thanks for this post, trag! The wife and I are big DR fans and we'd forgotten about this movie.tragabigzanda wrote:Imperium (or as I’ve been calling it, Harry Potter and the White Supremacists).
so I liked this well enough. Was really surprised by Radcliffe -- outside of one Harry Potter movie, and a few minutes of The Woman In Black that I saw one day, I’d never seen him in anything. Thought he was excellent (and now I want to watch Swiss Army Man)...
Had sort of a “movie of the week” vibe at times -- some arcs and plot points were a little tidy; could have benefitted from another 20 mins to flesh out some of the ideas he was being exposed to. And the ending was a little underwhelming.
But Radcliffe was excellent, and I give the movie bonus points for drawing a distinction between the neo-Nazis (who believed in Jesus), and the skinheads who rejected the Bible. Have been reading a lot about those ideological differences, and most of the other movies I’ve consumed down this wormhole have failed to illustrate this.

The Harry potter movies feel like most book adaptations: Bloated and sterile. I liked one of them, but couldn't tell you the name.
Radcliffe is probably the worst part of the series though, besides Ralph Fiennes missing nose.

I read the first one recently. I think it's well written, but the books were a little after my time.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:are you a fan of the books?BurtReynolds wrote:The Harry potter movies feel like most book adaptations: Bloated and sterile.
