This does seem to be the case, and if so that's fucked up. I don't even get a chance at my first choice?
It seems they filled the GA at every show before moving onto reserved, it was just more apparent at Phoenix because of the overall low sales (seems like almost anyone who put Phoenix GA down got it, even if it were their 9th preference and they'd ranked reserved at number 1.)

The GA section is 10C only, so it makes sense they'd prioritise filling it first. There's no point having a fanclub-only Phoenix GA section if only 30 people put it as their first preference, for example. I presume they also worked on the assumption that GA is more desirable for most, though that may not universally be the case (see this thread.) Personally, I'd much prefer GA: more space, more freedom, etc.

Another reason why they should just handle the lottery they way I suggested.

I'd just outsource the ticket sales to Ticketmaster and be done with it.

Would there be any way for ticketmaster to use seniority or would it just be first come first serve with a presale code that will most likely be all over the internet?

Use Ticketmaster for the sale, 10C can arrange the seating plan by seniority after the fact.

That's how it worked for, I think, the Canadian tour in 2011. They had a unique code for every member who wanted to enter, from memory.

So, yea, seniority is basically gone...

Now I decide if I end my tenure with Fan Clubs...

How is seniority gone now? It still applies to the reserved seats in the same manner that it always has.

Arranging the ticketing themselves (and then bearing the brunt of the blame when things inevitably go wrong) seems like a giant headache to me. Why not let someone else do it?

Because they are making a lot of money in membership dues based on holding people hostage for that number?

I wasn't advocating getting rid of seniority or 10C tickets, I just don't know why they handle the sales themselves.

Does ticketmaster partner with fan clubs for seniority based seating though?

Like I said above, they've done it that way in the past.

How much do you think Ticketmaster would charge the Ten Club for running their fan club on sale for them? I bet 10C isn't willing to part with the amount of money it would cost as long as they're still a doing an adequate enough job to keep their enrollment numbers as high as they are. I wonder what the real reason behind using them in Canada was in 2011...

It was in the immediate aftermath of the PJ20 ticket sales which were a complete nightmare for most people: a whole day spent hitting refresh, etc.

I agree, it's probably the cost that prevents them outsourcing on a permanent basis.

Now I'm imagining a scenario in which Ticketmaster does the on-sale and includes a "Ten Club Ticketing Fee" to cover 10C's cost of using their service. It'd be fun to watch the fall out on both sides of the "What does Pearl Jam stand for?" argument after that one...

Bummer, Joey. Those NYC tickets were always going to be tough to get.
