This is pretty fucked up the more i sit with it. To the Donald this felt like a legit time to fire Comey but I can't envision any other legit reason other than the fact that Comey was one of the few that was actually doing something about the Trump/Russia ties. This stinks of movie plot line cover up.
We'll know for certain when he hires Giuliani as his replacement.

So what's the deal with special prosecutors? Can we really trust Trump/Sessions/Rosenstein to appoint someone meaningful? Can Congress appoint someone who is independent of even them? Who did Ken Starr work for?
Please consider voting for me

Shaun king retweets and attack on democracy headlines. We're reaching levels of hyperbole that shouldn't even be possible.

Is arming the Kurds anything new? Are we just officially anouncing it now?
Will we now stop arming ISIS/ Al Nursa affiliates through the CIA and other alternate sources?

While I am all for calling out hypocrisy, it's not really the same situation now as it was then with regards to Comey.

There's a slight difference between resigning and being fired by the guy you're investigating because you're investigating him.

Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
If they give the firing a pass and continue to drive home this healthcare bill, then I have a prediction: in 2018, when the nation sees a double digit percentage increase in blue voters, the Republicans will claim to have uncovered evidence of mass, organized voter fraud, and call the elections invalid. After all, Anderson, how else do you explain voting patterns flying so far outside the norm and only in favor of one party?
They will then have closed investigations on the matter, and Mike Huckabee will tweet bad jokes about how Democrats were against investigations before they were for them.

Comey was investigating individuals related to Gen. Flynn, Flynn himself, and other Trump campaign staffers. I don't recall anyone saying Trump was under investigation by the FBI. I think we all just assume its happening.digster wrote:There's a slight difference between resigning and being fired by the guy you're investigating because you're investigating him.
Directly arming the Kurds is probably a bigger deal over the long term, given how vulnerable Europe is to Turkeys whims on border control and the recent election in France.

Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
In terms of the legal ramifications, this is an important designation. In terms of potential political fallout, I'm not sure Trump is making that differentiation, nor, honestly, should he. My argument isn't about Trump being culpable or not; there's been no evidence made public as of yet to suggest he colluded. My argument's more for anyone who would say this is not about the investigation, which I just think is beyond rational.Bi_3 wrote:Comey was investigating individuals related to Gen. Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
New Yorker satire once again too true to be funny:
WHITE HOUSE DENIES ANY TIES TO UNITED STATES
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In a fiercely defiant statement on Tuesday, the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, denied that any member of the White House staff has ever worked “in any way, shape, or form” for the benefit of the United States.
Angrily addressing the press corps, Spicer said that any allegations that members of the Trump Administration have ever acted in concert or collusion with the United States are “unequivocally false.”
“At no time during the transition or afterward did any member of the Trump team have meetings, conversations, or any other contacts that furthered the interests of the United States of America,” Spicer said. “In the thousands of communications that took place, the United States never came up even once.”
