Re: 16. Life Wasted (2:22-3:54) vs. You Are (3:30-4:15)
I like S/T a lot actually and I think Life Wasted is a great album opener to rise out of those murky middle years which I am not at all a fan of.
I do like the feature of Mike on this album. The end noodling isn't all that memorable. But I like it. It feels great to see such a prominent guitar and the return of some good solos.
If it was facing some super memorable solo Id probably not vote for it but I do like it a lot even if its just random noodling. The end of it is really good.
You Are is a pretty good song, good vibe (Ooo ahh rhyming with you are still bothers me <_<). That said nothing is really going on at the end of it besides a pretty cool vibe so Life Wasted it is. I dunno what Id be voting for if I voted for You Are.

Re: 16. Life Wasted (2:22-3:54) vs. You Are (3:30-4:15)
You Are has a nice little atmospheric solo, but there's so much atmosphere in the rest of the song it gets lost.
Life Wasted is pure guitar god goodness, and the second most offensive fade out in the catalog. It's actually one of my favorite extended sequences in the catalog (the end of life wasted). It may not be the most interesting thing Mike ever played, but he plays the ever loving shit out of it, and it is one of the livest sounding solos to date. I could listen to this 90 seconds all day.

You Are is fucking great but that section of Life Wasted is a committed band ready to whoop your ass even though the brickwall takes away the nastiness that should have been more prevalent.

It's You Are for me. I love the atmosphere of the song, it's always been my favorite RA track.

I like You Are the song so much more than Life Wasted, but the solo in Life Wasted is clearly superior.
