I think Habit is pretty awful. That part is pretty nice. I REALLY like Johnny Guitar but that's the worst part...
Somehow I find myself voting for Habit

I always forget how short Johnny Guitar is. I like the ending of it fine, but it's hardly the most memorable part of the song.
The ending of Habit is fantastic. Another moment (like Life Wasted and RVM) where everyone is just locked in and playing the fuck out of their instruments.

Habit outro has a darkhorse shot at winning this whole thing if people aren't idiots. And this is coming from a guy who was never the biggest Habit fan. It creeped up on me slowly, debilitating me until I soldiered on in spite of negative consequences.

I didn't like it for years, now I love it. It crept up on me too. There have been a few songs like that in the PJ catalog (Evacuation, Wishlist, & Get Right are in the same category) that I just really disliked for a long time and then the switch flipped and now I love 'em. And the finishing minute of Habit is absolutely fucking awesome.

Agree with Evac and GR as well. Those two and Habit all share simple (at first blush, bland) choruses that turned me away from the song.PHATJ wrote:Habit fucking shreds.evenslow wrote:Habit outro has a darkhorse shot at winning this whole thing if people aren't idiots. EVACUATION!! E-VAC-U-A-SHUUUUUUUN!!
I wanted to get riiiiiight, I wanted to get riiiiight
After years of filing them away (and honestly thanks to March Madness), I started listening for the music underneath and that's when it clicked.

Yep, basically same for me. And MM was what got me listening to those songs again too. See, this is why I love stip and could never kill him.evenslow wrote:Agree with Evac and GR as well. They're not bland, they're ear-screechingly awful and corny <_<evenslow wrote:Agree with Evac and GR as well. The ending of Habit is one of the best things ever recorded by the band.

This jam and me had a run in with some magic mushrooms a few years back and I will forever argue your point to be true.

I had to vote for Habit but I like the other song a lot better.

Re: 11. Habit (2:40-3:36) vs. Johnny Guitar (2:18-2:44)
I remember when they released "Who You Are" to radio. After about a week, the DJ started playing "Habit" instead. Incendiary! It was pretty hilarious and this helped to whittle the fan base down drastically. PJ became an "Acquired Taste" with one single.
