You mean in addition to the fact he still owns and runs his business holdings? Or that the State Department ran ads for his private luxury golf club? Or that one of his senior advisor was doing impromtu ads for his daughter's (who is also on his White House staff) clothing line? Or how his son-in-law's sister is selling US visas to Chinamen for half-a-million bucks a pop? Or the simple fact that he, personally, will make billions of dollars from the US government just from the Secret Service and them having to rent space in all his properties?malice wrote:give it about a year, hes bound to do something so unbelievably stupid and illegal he has to be impeached. No one seems to care (excluding rational, thinking people) he's violating every ethics rule there is for holding the office. Why would they care about anything else he does?

most of that won't have any lasting negative effect on common americans, i mean he's likely to do something so abominably stupid and harmful, some government intervention will be deemed necessarywease wrote:You mean in addition to the fact he still owns and runs his business holdings? It's not about whether these things resonate with people....his polling is near-catastrophic levels, and people don't trust him. It's whether or not the Justice Dept or Congress take the actions necessary to respond. They are the ones choosing not to address these issues.
Norms in government are largely reliant on decision to enforce.

Then why haven't I heard a single Trump supporter, and this is my own, personal anecdotal obversation, not TV or radio, say anything he's doing is bad? They all support everything he does.McParadigm wrote:It's not about whether these things resonate with people....his polling is near-catastrophic levels, and people don't trust him. And you can't go by how he polls. The fucking election told us that.
I really am starting to believe there is nothing he can do that will entice anyone other than democrats or rational-thinking Americans that he needs to be removed from office.

There are some great pieces by Nate Cohn on how to interpret the presumed polling gaffes around the election.wease wrote:Then why haven't I heard a single Trump supporter, and this is my own, personal anecdotal obversation, not TV or radio, say anything he's doing is bad? Trump still has his base, although in today's polling his "strongly agree" type answers from them plummets by double digits (!!!). What he had, and does not now have, are any moderates or the otherwise apolitical goofs who really thought he might put an end to snarky politics. He only has about 1/3 of Americans, but the Republican Party cant afford to turn on that 1/3 if they want to fundraise and control the most deeply conservative districts.

A few days before the voter fraud investigation began, McParadigm wrote:If they give the firing a pass and continue to drive home this healthcare bill, then I have a prediction: in 2018, when the nation sees a double digit percentage increase in blue voters, the Republicans will claim to have uncovered evidence of mass, organized voter fraud, and call the elections invalid. After all, Anderson, how else do you explain voting patterns flying so far outside the norm and only in favor of one party?
They will then have closed investigations on the matter, and Mike Huckabee will tweet bad jokes about how Democrats were against investigations before they were for them.

Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
stop now, because this is depressing, and a good reminder of why ive done my best in the last 6 months to deny there's a reality tv star with a bad wig in power. Honestly, theres definitely merit to your comments, i guess i just cant get past the idea the next 4 years are going to basically destroy the country in ways we cant see yet. I keep hoping someone will put a stop to all of this before it's too late. I have nothing relevant left to contribute, but i ve enjoyed reading your posts anywayMcParadigm wrote:malice wrote:the congress would have to respond if elections begin to impede their ability to remain in power, no?McParadigm wrote:It's not about whether these things resonate with people....his polling is near-catastrophic levels, and people don't trust him. Something that Republicans need to realize if things get worse for Trump is that they still get Mike Pence if Trump is thrown out of office. The only thing I could see that they'd fear is if Trump tries to run a third party candidacy in 2020, but the earlier they impeach him, the more distant he becomes.

Trump shattered records with small donors when campaigning, too, and he's been effectively campaign fundraising ever since hitting office. He's got a powerful grip on a small fraction of people, for whom this is essentially a religious war. It's the same group that makes Fox talking head merchandising absurdly lucrative.bune wrote:Granted it's the first quarter but that's a lot of money.McParadigm wrote:There are some great pieces by Nate Cohn on how to interpret the presumed polling gaffes around the election.wease wrote:Then why haven't I heard a single Trump supporter, and this is my own, personal anecdotal obversation, not TV or radio, say anything he's doing is bad? I'll get the exact quote in a minute, but the first question in Spicer's press briefing was whether or not Comey was recorded in the Oval Office; Spicer refused further comment. The next question was whether there are recording devices in the Oval Office; Spicer refused further comment.

I love Sarah Sanders. "You guys are asking the same questions, and Im sounding like a broken record."
Yeah, well, you're answers are pointless shit. They should keep asking them until your answer makes sense.
