Duchovney has been fun, tho. Is he in the new season?
You're in the worst part of it now. It starts to pick up a tad more steam around episode 21. And then 25/6 through the end is really strong to great.
25/6??? Netflix only has up to 22 episodes. Do they not have all the episodes up?
I thought you were talking about overall episode number. Not S2 episode number. If you're at ep 14 OF S2, then the worst is behind you.
God, that makes me happy.

You're so close. Just get to those last three/four episodes. The show ends SO strongly. It's worth it.
This.

Other than the semi-pointless James plot line, the lower quality episodes are setting the foundation for the last 2 or 3 episodes, which are just fantastic.

Just out curiosity, did the sound seem louder than for a normal movie? I've read (and it could have been on here, so I hope I'm not repeating things) that during the original theatrical run, Lynch specifically asked that the movie be turned up 2 db louder than normal.
The overall volume was extremely loud for the movie. The dialogue was normal, though. So my wife had a really difficult time with many of the scenes because she couldn't hear what people were saying. The best example of what I'm talking about was this scene:

The sound of the Leland's engine revving and all the cars honking and Laura screaming completely drowned out what Mike was saying. I had to fill my wife in on the exchange a bit. It's way easier to understand him on the DVD that I have.

But, yes, in general, the film was exceptionally loud. Except dialogue.
That's really interesting. Even watching it for the first time 4 months ago at home, I had a hard time understanding the dialogue in that scene. The noise is extremely jarring, but I think it's effective because it drives the terror of the scene and the feeling of being caught completely off guard.

Doesn't look like I'll be getting to watch this any time soon. My hope was that my in-laws had Showtime and I could use their account to watch it OnDemand like I do HBO. They aren't subscribers to Showtime.

"There are many stories in Twin Peaks — some of them are sad, some funny. Some of them are stories of madness, of violence. Some are ordinary. Yet they all have about them a sense of mystery — the mystery of life. Sometimes, the mystery of death. The mystery of the woods. The woods surrounding Twin Peaks. To introduce this story, let me just say it encompasses the All — it is beyond the "Fire", though few would know that meaning. It is a story of many, but begins with one — and I knew her. The one leading to the many is Laura Palmer. Laura is the one."

That gum we like is officially back in style.

It's afternoon here now and I won't get a chance to watch it til later tonight, I'll take that as a positive (if bewildered) recommendation.

I watched 2 out of the 4. I loved it. So far it's definitely closer to Fire Walk With Me than the original series. It's so weird, but in a good way.

They released 4 at once? They're not doing that every week, are they? I think I'm going to get caught up on Fargo before diving in.

The Showtime online/app dropped four episodes at once. Apparently 1 & 2 aired last night. Episodes 3 & 4 air this coming Sunday. I don't think they're putting anything new up until the week after when episode 5 drops.

Point being, I'm holding off on watching 3 & 4 until later in the week. I want to savor this. I watched 1 & 2 last night and I'm floored. I want to watch 1 & 2 again before watching the next parts. There is so much to track and unpack.

This is going to be difficult to talk about as people continue to get caught up.

I would agree it's closer to FWWM... but it's not at all like FWWM. It almost has it's own unique tone that is somewhere between the series and the film. But he has already terrified me to my marrow; something Lynch does at least once a movie/show. Just bone chilling oddity and terror. But he's also made me laugh out loud like a goddam idiot.

Yeah. Yeah, this is gonna be fun. I can't believe this is finally here. I'm an emotional wreck. My insides are all over the place.

Having only seen the first two, it feels like it struck the perfect balance between respecting the tone of the original while not willing to give an ounce to unearned nostalgia. I think the fact that the premiere was so willing to hold back on straight up fan service in terms of parading returning character one after the other is a good sign.
