25 years ago this weekend, this performance hooked me on PJ. There was something incredibly inspiring and REAL about it. Listening to it now doesn't evoke the same feelings, but I will always cite this show as why I love PJ and specifically, Live PJ..

It is perhaps PJ's most effective gateway drug.

absolutely. it's also a great example of the lack of versatility dave a had. he changed nothing about the way he plays those songs to suit the acoustic setting.Kevin Davis wrote:There are few bands less suited to an acoustic performance than 1992 Pearl Jam. Arguably the most unduly praised performance of the band's career.

Unplugged is about the last thing I'd play for someone if I were trying to convince them that Pearl Jam are (or at least were) a good band.

I always thought this was a really strong performance. Live At Benaroya Hall is even better, proving that the band works really well in an accoustic setting.

Counterpoint: the band's 1992 Bridge School Beneift performance is a much better Abbruzzese-era acoustic show than Unplugged with a great one-off rearrangement of Jeremy (kind of a precursor to "New Jeremy" with Jack a few years later) and the first performance of Daughter:WtOB? wrote:absolutely. it's also a great example of the lack of versatility dave a had. he changed nothing about the way he plays those songs to suit the acoustic setting.Kevin Davis wrote:There are few bands less suited to an acoustic performance than 1992 Pearl Jam. Nothing wrong with Dave's playing here at all.

I wonder why they never officially released this on CD. I think they did a dvd or something with the Ten Redux, but I always figured there would be a proper release. I guess I was wrong. Maybe it will be a "vault" show release one day?
