25 years ago this weekend, this performance hooked me on PJ. There was something incredibly inspiring and REAL about it. Listening to it now doesn't evoke the same feelings, but I will always cite this show as why I love PJ and specifically, Live PJ.. :luv:

It is perhaps PJ's most effective gateway drug.

absolutely. it's also a great example of the lack of versatility dave a had. he changed nothing about the way he plays those songs to suit the acoustic setting.

Unplugged is about the last thing I'd play for someone if I were trying to convince them that Pearl Jam are (or at least were) a good band.

I always thought this was a really strong performance. Live At Benaroya Hall is even better, proving that the band works really well in an accoustic setting.

Counterpoint: the band's 1992 Bridge School Beneift performance is a much better Abbruzzese-era acoustic show than Unplugged with a great one-off rearrangement of Jeremy (kind of a precursor to "New Jeremy" with Jack a few years later) and the first performance of Daughter:

Nothing wrong with Dave's playing here at all.

I wonder why they never officially released this on CD. I think they did a dvd or something with the Ten Redux, but I always figured there would be a proper release. I guess I was wrong. Maybe it will be a "vault" show release one day?
