My thoughts exactly. He looked happier over the last 10 or so years than he ever seemed back in his 20's and 30's. Doesn't make sense (if it was indeed a suicide). As crazy as it sounds, when I heard he was found in the bathroom I actually hoped he had just slipped and banged his head on the sink, or something similar. An inglorious end for sure, but still better than the alternatives. An overdose or suicide really just doesn't seem plausible for CC in 2017.

Cornell was the true Seattlite and the scene started with him. First band with a Subpop release, first band in the scene on a major label. They were one of the main bands that inspired Nirvana. And, they were the band that pushed the boundaries more than anyone else. As far as Pearl Jam is concerned, he could have EASILY created an antagonistic situation with Ed coming in. He lost his buddy Andy Wood, he could have fucked the whole scene up out of anger and spite, and moreso screwed up the launch of Mookie Blaylockl/Pearl Jam. He was at the first Off Ramp gig. He welcomed Ed in. He's practically a founding member of the band. Can you imagine Pearl Jam without the existence of Chris Cornell? I can't. Jeez.

PLUS, he had an interesting solo career and he was still going strong. He was the spiritual leader of Seattle rock, not the other guys as much.
Well said. He always impressed me with his generous attitude. Another good one gone.

Reports were he accidentally asphyxiated himself while masturbating.
Where are you getting this?
He's talking about the INXS scenario, not Cornell.
Not that I'm saying that Cornell went like this. But David Carradine (Kill Bill) accidentally died from auto-erotic asphyxiation....

Yeah, well said Tuolumne.

This makes me real sad for Stone and Jeff too. This is now twice they've had a frontman go on them. Uhg, this is just so so sad :(

Thought about going to the Kansas City show, but money is a bit tight right now so I figured I'm catch them next time round. I'm going to eternally regret that decision. Fuck man.

Chris Cornell yelled at me once for not standing up during an SG show. There is a video of it out there somewhere.

I'd nominate Toulumne to do this. He posted a pretty perfect summation.

If someone thinks I should, I suppose I could expound a little on what I already wrote. I might need a few days and some time I can hopefully find.

Man, this suicide thing is just not registering with me. This isn't 1994. He was in his 50s, wife and 3 kids. Had Soundgarden going for him, a very active and fruitful career, Temple of the Dog. He toured all over last year. Friends and contemporaries that loved and respected him. It just doesn't make sense.

Yes we'd love to hear it. I just wrote something as well, which B may or may not use, but the more the merrier. Love hearing people's thoughts on it.

I find it kind of odd the Pearl Jam camp has been completely silent about this. Maybe gathering their thoughts before posting something?
