The analysis and impact of the tragedy at the Pit is the worst. I'm embarrassed to be in the same fan-club as these people.

This is my favorite discussion thread on the internet and I always get excited when I see it pop up near the top of the page again.

OMG, you couldn't pay me to go down the rabbit hole of Pit conversation about Chris Cornell's death and now this drama over Ed attending his funeral or not.

Out of curiosity do they have a pun spin-off thread about the whole thing?

I'm seeing some people defending that Eddie shouldn't have to go to Cornell's funeral.
They say that Cornell's family should respect HIS grief (?), as if Eddie was a god or something.

My best friend's girlfriend's roommate is apparently dating a Pearl Jam fan club member. And based on the stories I heard about him last night, I'm ashamed to be in any fucking club with him. Pearl Jam fans are the worst.

I know nothing about this situation, but I actually don't see the problem with this statement? Eddie is a human not a god. I don't see why he should HAVE to go to the funeral unless it was like a family member or something.

Did Chris Cornell's family blast Eddie for not going to the funeral or something? If that's true, then yes I think they're in the wrong.

If that's not what happened I don't get what this controversy is that you're talking about <_<

ok now i see that this actually did happen. Yes, Cornell's family should respect Eddie's grief too I don't see why you should be mad at him for not attending a funeral. I thought that the point of a funeral was to come to peace with the death and if Eddie would have a hard time going and rather grieve in private, I don't see the problem of this at all, and I do think its messed up to judge him for that.

If it was Chris Cornell's close family member then it would be one thing, because then he'd have to be with his family as well, but Eddie's not.

Basicly, Cornell's MIL said that she is pissed that Eddie and Familly did not even sent their condolences, and that Cornell's daughter asked for him, and he did not awnser them, Jill told the kids that they would not be attending the funeral.

Something along these lines

After reading the mother in law's rant on twitter I am even less on her side from before. I think this lady should respect Eddie's grief yes and stop blasting him as a horrible awful person and dragging his name through the mud. I find it hard to believe that Chris's kids were so massively close to Eddie that they are completely and utterly devastated by this.

She's being a hysterical lunatic and the best thing Eddie could do is ignore it completely.

She is in grief.
I would be preety upset if someone close to my family would not attend his funerall myself.

I wouldn't. And I doubt they are as close as fans make them out to be.

I doubt it as well. Still. Im just trying to put myself in both places. I'd say that Ed at leas had some kind of respect for Chris. I his place, I would pay this respect. But that is just me.

And a death in the family can make people become histerical. Its normal.

Sure I just don't think it's on Eddie to fly across the world because of the mother in law's Twitter rant.

And grieving or not, it may be understandable but it's still not right.
