I knew it was there. Maybe it's my relatively newness to Bruce, but I find my pick, Ramrod, more enjoyable than The Ties That Bind. Both are good, but Ramrod is better.

The lack of quotes, the lack of capitalization for the first letter in each word and the period at the end leads me to believe he is simply making a subtle philosophical statement about the things that hold us down/give us stability. It's a remarkable use of irony vis a vis Bruce Springsteen and song titles.
