For the longest time I felt it was just ok, but I really connected with the lyrics.. it really parallels what's been going on where I grew up

There's probably 3 bitu songs I feel are subpar (which I'll say later for draft/tourn purposes) but the rest is awesome

Whilst waiting I've had a bit of a look-see over the teams after the first 5 full rounds. Gotta say that Bruce has a ton of great songs and that this will be very interesting voting I'm sure. I have a bit of a system planned in my head for how I'm gonna go about it - I always tend to numerically "score" teams in some form or other, no reason to change that here.

At first glance my fave teams are: Lowlight, 'slow, 'sleep, dct and lv.

Every team though has at least 2 songs that I absolutely love, and hard to find a crap song amongst the whole lot of them. I'm interested to see how my "scoring" system pans out.

I've very much enjoyed rediscovering Brucie.

This next song came out when my then girlfriend, now wife, were going through our toughest stretch. I unexpectedly had to start traveling for work, for what I was told would be 6 weeks but ended up being 9 months. Neither of us were happy with the situation and it put a huge strain on us. We were traveling over Rocky Ground. The song really spoke to me then, even though it isn't the most loved song in his catalog by any means, and the spoken word section still brings a lump in my throats whenever I hear it.

I actually really enjoy that tune, particularly like the shout out to African American music of all types and styles. Bruce even wrote the rap for that! Nice choice, sweeter for having personal significance.

Me, I'm just trying to get through this Goddamn Lonesome Day.

V, you dog. Great tune. Sets up The Rising perfectly with the tone of the time.

No.
I remember when Judge Reinhold traded bodies with Fred Savage.
See, now, THAT I remember.

You did the right thing. Both of the songs I thought I could save for later both got snagged already. You are the wisest among us, friend.

Hell, you probably got doug's old Seinfeld joke.

Nothing quite so sweet as waking up to a PM that it's your pick in the Bruce Springsteen fantasy draft.

God damn. The next two on my list were Lonesome Day and Streets of Fire. Back to the drawing board.

This is absolutely one of my favorite live performances of a song ever. He is absolutely killing it at every step here. And playing the shit out of that guitar.

Rocky Ground
Underrated track from a solid late career album.
