17? Even better!

About 4 or 5 years ago I had a treadmill and I did the majority of my running on it. I could pace sub 7 min miles at shorter distances with relative ease. That treadmill broke and it resulted in me running exclusively outside. So fast forward to a few months ago and my girlfriend moves in with her treadmill and I find treadmill running a lot tougher than outside now, where my pace is usually much faster.

Yesterday I worked 12 hours and then did my run in the rain. I pushed pretty hard and finished with my most average time of 36 minutes.

Ran 6 miles Saturday and 5 yesterday. Had a pretty neat breakthrough: for the first time, my legs didn't feel heavy. You know how when you watch other people run it looks like they're just effortlessly gliding over the ground? That's how I felt.

Congrats. I'm pushing through a sinus infection of some sort which also feels like a breakthrough.

Thanks. I'm still slow as hell but at least I don't feel like I'm dragging my legs behind me anymore.

Really weird Sunday. Raining here, so I decided to try the long run on the treadmill. Made it 5 miles before I quit. I was doing an 8:13 pace but sweating balls. Took it outside from there and did another 9, making sure to run my last two at marathon pace. Followed it today with 9 easy miles.

So here's the thing: my knees just ache. Anyone run with copper sleeves or something similar on? I need to find something to make that pain subside a bit. I think about my knees too damn much when I'm running.

Possibly the best RM feud in years is starting to take shape, and everyone is going to miss it because it's in the running thread.

Dev smokes. There's no competition between myself and a smoker. Nothing to see here.

I've had a single smoke for each of the last 3 days. I could pretty much walk away from it at this point. I'll yell you what though, feeling a little congested has never held me back from anything.

Just spent an hour running on the treadmill while Dev is probably fast asleep in his log cabin.

Funny stuff. I had a strong run tonight after the game. 3 time going every second day in a row. Now I'm back doing maintenance on my cabin. Pretty congested too. Must be a miracle that I'm able to work like this.

PS. didn't smoke today.

*watches as two men antagonize each other into the best shape of their lives

Did a 2 easy, 2 threshold, 2 easy run yesterday. One concern I have is that I'm not running enough quality miles. This week, for example, I'm doing 44, but aside from the 2 threshold miles I just mentioned, it's only 2 marathon pace miles at the end of my long run and 4 marathon pace miles tomorrow, so just 8 for the week.

Also, I am still running my easy miles a bit too fast - between 8:05 and 8:15. According to Jack Daniels, I should be around 8:30. I can't bring myself to that, and I know it's negatively affecting the quality miles. Chime in with any sage advice R2D.
