Songs that can't hold up to their best sections

Post by mikejasond »

AKA songs where the chorus or something else makes the song lose something or fall on its face.

I can think of two examples that inspired this topic

1. Sad - The intro of this song is so cool, and I was so disappointed when I first heard it and it caught my attention only to just go into honestly a fairly generic song with very boring background of the same chords over and over after that amazing beginning part.

2. Red Mosquito - To me, the chorus of this song kills a lot of the momentum that the awesome verses behavior build, even if the parts where it transitions back is amazing, I don't think its worth it for how bad the beginning of the chorus kills the vibe.

I'd agree with you on Sad, but Red Mosquito is a perfect song. Shame on you.

Shame on both of you. Both are fantastic PJ numbers.

swallowed whole is a decent little song dragged down by a lame chorus

Inside Job doesn't hold up to its intro and outro

Totally disagree on Sad. I love that entire song, it's great.

A song with a shitty chorus for me has always been MFC. The song starts and ends so awesome but that fucking shitty chorus. Granted, it has grown on me over the years and I begrudgingly sing along. 'Aaask I'm an eaaar" Ugh.

are you saying that there's a crossover between Father John Misty and Inside Job?

I don't know. But to really get people pissed, I'll say In My Tree. Love the drums in the beginning but the rest of the song falls flat for me.

Present Tense, the music fantastic, but after does it inspire the lyrics are really bad.
Ltrp such a cool intro and then the lame Shania Twain guitar part going in to the lame chorus. I really like the verses and the solo.

Incorrect, present tense is an awesome song from start to finish

Yeah the "Present Tense" lyrics are cheesy but they're not "Inside Job"-level bad. And the music is so good

I really like Pilate as a whole, but the bridge is one of my favorite things PJ has done.
