Great live when he first performed it in 99/00, but I never liked the studio version. Too plodding. My favourite version is from the Seeger 06 tour:



I think that whole album and tour is criminally underrated by his fans. I'm still staggered that Bruce released a country album in 05, a traditional folk album in 06 and a massive rock album in 07 (and toured behind all three with different bands/solo). 2002-2008 was a great time to be a Bruce fan.

I was going to do it as a nod to Waits and because my knowledge of Bruce's catalog is so narrow. But I've been expanding what I know over the course of this thing so I don't mind not taking it. I'm glad SOMEONE took it though. It's a great song and a great cover.
