Tix for me don't go on sale until Friday, unless you want VIP seats or have some sort of Citi credit card. So it could be staggered onsale dates

i was reading about the early years box set today and stumble on this little nugget:
Meddle 5.1
It has been discovered that the Meddle 5.1 album has been included in the set. This album was reported to have been pulled from inclusion for undisclosed reasons. The Meddle 5.1 is not accessible from the DVD/BD menu nor by any known "easter egg" method. It should be presumed then that instead of removing the album from the discs that only their link in the DVD/BD menu was removed to stop access to it. It is, however, discoverable by inserting the disc into a compatible computer and searching through the disc's contents files.

The album is as follows:

Meddle 5.1 mix 2016 + Stereo 24 bits 96kHz – 46.49
"One of These Days"
"A Pillow of Winds"
"Fearless"
"San Tropez"
"Seamus"
"Echoes"
anybody know or hear this? i'd love to hear echoes in surround!!

yeah, definitely have heard of it. it's up on a couple trackers but i'm not sure what i'd need to do to get it to play on my player. i'll have to look into it. apparently echoes in surround is as good as you'd think it would be.

some more mixed opinions on yeeshkul. but here's one guys take to give you an idea:

6. Echoes
The famous "ping" at the beginning is mixed into all channels, nice: makes you feel all immersed into the thing from the word go. The first guitar solo (at appox. 1:00 minute into the song) is mixed to left rear. The overdubbed guitar to right rear. Hammond organ and drums to front. The vocals are (of course) also at front.

This 5.1 mix (maybe like all 5.1 mixes?) is very sensitive to the relative volume setting of your speakers. For instance at approx. 3:45 mins when the second guitar part starts. In my ears/speaker setting it suffered from the same issue of OoTD at first: some (delay?) effects are overly loud and harsh at (left) rear. Harder than the guitar itself at some points...

The "funky" part starts at appox. 7:00. The guitar solo is mixed to all speakers, bass mainly front.

The "ghostly" part starts at approx. 10:40. Might be me but I seem to hear two or three electric guitar overdub strokes at about 11:00 that I haven't heard before: nice. The "seagull" guitar howl walks about in the rear. Nice.

The Hammond/celestial part starts at approx. 15:00 w/ the famous ping again. This time the ping "wonders" around behind you. The Hammond's up (stereo) front. Gilmour w/ his guitar is standing behind you again. Later on the heavy hard rock guitar chords are mixed around you, as is the Hammond.

When the second vocal part starts at approx. 19:10 the Hammond moves behind you.

The last instrumental part starts at approx. 19:55. Main guitar is front, overdubs at rear. Drums up front as is the (main) Hammond. The coda has the subtle guitar parts in stereo rear. The "Aaaaaa" voices are mixed mainly front but appear to be slowly mixed to all corners at the end, like they should.

The endless river is really powerful. I swear I could make a whole video for the album, like a cross between The Wall and The Orb's video. Apart from the actual making it bit. Or paying for it. Or finding anyone to do it. Or...

I was watching late night telly last night and an infomercial for a Susan Boyle album came on. It took a few seconds but I realised with horror that she was singing 'Wish You Were Here'.

It was horrible and I feel emotionally shaken.

Tough night at work as we're showing Roger Waters The Wall from 2012. I saw one of the London shows in 2010. Holy shit this was a production.
