Saw this on my run this morning:
Image
Last spring I saw a huge Neverending Story-sized turtle, but I was on a long run and so concerned with my pace, I didn't stop to snap a photo. What an idiot!

Dev, my last post to you was bottom paged.

Thanks for the post Twat. I guess I should mix it up, but I feel very frightened by what you are suggesting to me. I don't think I can handle it. But maybe that is the point and maybe I can.

Another 6 today after work. Busted ass up all hills. Again a very stiff wind. Probably going to shoot for a long run this weekend of 12. Looking forward to it in comparison to runs like today.

Today I flirted with the idea of doubling my distance. Couldn't bring myself to do it. Maybe next time.

I just know how bad it will hurt and it's hard to want that.

Oh, don't do it. Add a mile. Make your increases in distance and in speed work gradual. Doubling anything is a recipe for injury.

Speaking of which, my left leg is in bad shape. It is uncomfortable to even walk. Doesn't feel like shin splints. Feels more like a tendon or muscle is aggravated. Really annoying.

TFW you start to suspect all those chronic running injuries you used to endure (shin splints, knee pain, arch soreness) were probably just cause you were fat. Knock on wood, haven't had a single issue this year since getting my weight in check. Even bought a pair of normal, attractive running shoes that aren't as wide as they are long.

(DT please don't read anything into the placement of this post...just talking about my own former fatness here, lol.)

Fat logic: I'm 50 pounds overweight but it's 'all muscle', I have no idea why I get hurt!

You told me to do hour long runs which is like double for me.

I did indeed, but that was in regards to you 6.5k/30 minute goal. It's something you need to work up to. That said, with easy miles, you can run longer because you're going slower. If your runs are always 35 minutes, do 45s for two weeks. Then 50, etc.

12 miles Sunday, 5 yesterday, 5 today, hoping to do 4-5 at mom's place up north on Saturday but I'm a little nervous about bears. Pretty good week running-wise.

10 today. Held 8:30 pace. Felt okay but the idea of doing 16 more miles seems literally impossible...

I don't want to take the day off tomorrow but obviously can't do 10 again. What makes sense? Speed work at the track? Recovery run?

Not speed work. You want to do that when you're at your best. Just easy miles if you're running. Cross train or rest if you're sore.

I'm not sore. Just tired. I only get like 6 hours of sleep a night during the work week. I ended up eating half a pizza and napping on the couch tonight.

If I go to bed early it's just like I'm going into work earlier. And I fucking hate work. Got to keep the night alive.
