Yeah the EMTs gave the narcan, and thats what the "track marks" TMZ were on about came from. Presumably they knew he had a past problem with opioids.wease wrote:Narcan?? According to the report, obtained by TMZ, the singer had Naloxone (Narcan), Butalbital (sedative), Lorazepam (Ativan), Pseudoephedrine (decongestant) and barbiturates in his system at the time of death. It appears Chris had taken 4 (1 mg) Lorazepam tablets.
We broke the story, Vicky claims she was on the phone with Chris a half hour before his death ... when he began speaking in tones she hadn't heard since he was addicted to Oxycontin 14 years ago. She was so alarmed by the slurring and tone she asked Chris' bodyguard to break his hotel door down.
As we reported, cops observed fresh track marks on Chris' arm. According to the tox report, he had 4 needle puncture wounds on his left arm, but it appears the marks were from EMTs administering Narcan to counteract an opiate OD.
Family sources tell us Vicky and others are angry the medical examiner "jumped to conclusions" Chris committed suicide. They believe he was so high on drugs he did not really form an intent to kill himself ... he was out of his mind when he put the exercise belt around his neck.
In essence, Chris' family believes this was an accidental death.

And butalbitol IS a barbiturate. It's stupid to report he had that and barbiturates in his system. It's like saying he had Lorazepam and benzodiazepines in his system. The butalbitol is a bit odd, tho. I've never seen it in a form by itself (not saying it doesn't happen, just that I've never seen it) as it's usually combined with other meds like an NSAID or aspirin and even caffeine for migraines.

I'm of the mindset that he may not have done this if his mind wasn't so entirely altered by the drug cocktail he was on. He may have known exactly what he was doing when he put the cord around his neck, but it seems reasonable to at least question if he'd made the same decision sober. Maybe he totally would have, and maybe it was directly a result of the drugs. We'll never know. But I think it is a perfectly reasonable question.Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:I don't know about you guys, but I always choke myself unconcious when I'm high out of my mind. Happens all the time.

Not in regards to the official cause of death, because it's still a suicide regardless. How are you going to prove what his state of mind was?PHATJ wrote:But I think it is a perfectly reasonable question.

Like I said, we'll never know. And I agree it was suicide either way. But it's still entirely possible (even likely) his drug cocktail significantly contributed to his decision making.Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:Not in regards to the official cause of death, because it's still a suicide regardless. Is that better? I'd say that is more tragic.

The problem is that chalking it up to an accident is kind of demeaning to the guy who actively committed suicide. Let's give Chris some credit. He stayed true to his lyrics at the very least.

Re: RIP Chris Cornell 1964 - 2017
Yeah I hate to get morbid here but suicide by hanging (and suicide by hanging in a hotel bathroom with an exercise band) is something, on some level, you are desperate to do. Of course his judgment was clouded and there could have been the side effect of suicidal ideation, but, granting all that, it sure seems like he wanted to go out. Lots of people mix prescription drugs and don't end up hanging themselves. Look at Tiger Woods, for one.
Also, we'll never know if he said something else to her in that last phone call that she didn't report. It could absolutely have been as she said: "I'm just tired." And then immediately to the bathroom to kill himself. Or... who the fuck knows what else could've been said. Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist but it seems really fucking weird that she says he had no signs of depression and then one night after a show he magically starts slurring his words out of nowhere and she immediately calls in the bodyguard. I'm no Columbo but...
I've found some other things in the nooks and cranny's of the internet that, if true, lead me to believe he was thinking of several different depressing situations leading up to the end.
Regardless of all this amateur Veronica Mars sleuthing, this just fucking sucks. I absolutely hate that his kids don't have a dad and that it's forever going to be one of the first things I think about every time a Soundgarden or solo track comes on.
