Kinda damages my opinion of Claire Danes as a perfect angelic being more than anything.

At least she didn't kill herself, or have him murdered. Although I am sure she is scarred for life.theplatypus wrote:Uh I think it's pretty far behind from both those things. I actually wrote this before I saw the movie, and I still agree with it, but I agree this one was a little worse in that area as well.BurtReynolds wrote:Nah. Competent heroes make the monster more impressive. I want a crew that does everything right and still can't handle it because it's just too awesome.Orpheus wrote:Am I the only person who has no problem with them doing stuff like sticking their heads in the eggs? It's an Alien movie. They basically have to do that or there's no film. IMO that's kind of the price of admission to horror/creature flicks like this--someone has to do something very stupid to get the ball rolling.Rangi Guy wrote:Aside from stupid people doing stupid things
One stupid decision is forgivable, maybe two, but constant idiocy is unacceptable.
It also helps if the characters do something stupid because of some demonstrated character flaw like arrogance or inexperience. But otherwise intelligent characters acting stupid just to get the plot lurching to the next setpiece is shit writing.
I really enjoyed the middle, David-centric part of this a lot, but my favorite part of it and Prometheus has really been some of the designs. When they first go into the ruins with David is just really impressive.

Re: Alien: Covenant is better than Soundgarden
This movie is exactly a Lore episode of Star Trek, but with gore.
They beam down to the planet as soon as they get the oxygen all-clear. No intelligence gathering necessary.
One android is less human, but more moral and...somehow...actually more human. The other, I mean...is just Lore. He's just Lore.
Alien genocide happens off camera, before the episode starts.
90% of the crew actively pursues death with every choice they make.
There isn't enough Patrick Stewart.

What a predictable damn ending. Like, I predicted it before they even left the planet. So disappointing

Re: Alien: Covenant is better than Soundgarden
Just watched this tonight and from the perspective of someone who isn’t a full-on xenomorph fanboy I thought it was great. Fassbender was the standout for sure. Would have preferred a non-cgi alien but it didn’t ruin anything for me overall.
I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd.
