His scarf was noticeably longer, and it would fill up with more of those symbols that demarcated how long he could fly. So yes, I'm guessing this was the case. Thanks for shedding some light on this!Mecca wrote:i think maybe people who complete the game get a white cloak or something. this person have one of those? they probably just consider themselves a guide getting people through everythingtragabigzanda wrote:There was only one other partner the entire time I played, and he/she was by my side for nearly the entire game -- basically never left me to explore elsewhere or lead me to something new. We communicated by spouting our unique little world balloons and tooting out that energy that made your flying scarf longer. The whole time I wasn't clear on whether or not this was another real player, or just a computer-controlled comrade. If that was a real person, then I'd say the concept is awesome, but either A) poorly executed, or B) I just got unlucky with a partner who wasn't all that fun to play with.Mecca wrote:maybe the landscape has changed, but when the game came out, you'd find partners and come up with your own way of communicating with each other and helping figure things out. That was part of the appeal, but I mostly completed the game without the help of others. The ending was a great feeling, though.tragabigzanda wrote:Played through Journey yesterday. Sort of mixed feelings; really great, original, dreamy and exotic vibe. But the actual gameplay wasn't anything special -- the "puzzles" were just barely puzzles; the exploration was very much on rails.
Not a bad game by any measure, but didn't live up to the hype, especially after I was so blown away by Inside. Wouls be interested to see what the devs make next, but hopefully their singular design style will be better supported by really fun gameplay.

If I'm remembering right, the longer scarf is due to finding the secret areas that power you up.tragabigzanda wrote:His scarf was noticeably longer, and it would fill up with more of those symbols that demarcated how long he could fly. Yes, and I believe they allow you to fly higher/longer.Orpheus wrote:If I'm remembering right, the longer scarf is due to finding the secret areas that power you up.tragabigzanda wrote:His scarf was noticeably longer, and it would fill up with more of those symbols that demarcated how long he could fly. Hmm...I realized in the game that the longer scarf meant longer flight, but its presence as a reward for exploring is news to me. I love when games don't hand you an explanation on a platter.Monkey_Driven wrote:Yes, and I believe they allow you to fly higher/longer.Orpheus wrote:If I'm remembering right, the longer scarf is due to finding the secret areas that power you up.tragabigzanda wrote:His scarf was noticeably longer, and it would fill up with more of those symbols that demarcated how long he could fly. There are quite a few little secrets in Journey, I recommend playing it multiple times. That sunset level gets me every time.tragabigzanda wrote:Hmm...I realized in the game that the longer scarf meant longer flight, but its presence as a reward for exploring is news to me. Finally picked up Horizon zero dawn. What a game. Fantastic. Love the combat and the story is top notch. The game world is something special. I hope they do a sequel or at least a expansion.
I'm confused how the company that did Killzone came up with something this grandiose.

There will no doubt be a sequel. It has sold over 3 million copies. Terrific game.jwfocker wrote:Finally picked up Horizon zero dawn. What a game. Fantastic. Love the combat and the story is top notch. The game world is something special. I hope they do a sequel or at least a expansion.

Horizon is definitely a game I'll be digging into ASAP after reading all the good things about it.
Did anyone besides Trag give Prey any playtime? I'm still kind of on the fence about it but it looks like something I could obsess over.

I'm guessing that I didn't attach the cables correctly? I have no idea. But this is why I never play games. Because I'm terrible at them. Because I never play them. It's a vicious cycle.

Took a break from Zelda. Just have Hyrule Castle and about 25 shrines left. Savoring it. Played through Until Dawn finally.

Good article on the issues that caused the recent mass effect game to be so so bad. It gives you a good idea of the shit game companies deal with, especially those that work for huge corporations like EA.
