I watched the version with the Spanish subtitles and am afraid that there were supposed to be English Subtitles when Nacho was talking to his father and I missed a huge part of the story.

You didn't really miss anything story-wise without the dialogue. All the acting was done superbly thru body language and if you're caught up as to the dilemma Nacho is in, that's all you need. The dialogue was just along the lines of "mornin' son", "mornin' pop."

So I'm still 1-2 episodes behind, but I just watched Slip, the ep in which Jimmy is down to his last dollars; Kim snaps at her old friend and colleague on the Mesa Verde case; and Mike works on the church housing project...

Holy shit, this ep had me on the verge of tears the entire time. They captured perfectly the feeling of working so hard, never catching a break, and trying to put on a happy face while running on fumes. It's exactly how I felt all winter long (but it's all good now).

This show is, above all else, about scrappiness, people trying to claw their way out of a rut and into a better life.

The old lady breaking down was fucking awful. Even when he was grinding it out at nursing homes, it at least felt like there was some underlying care for his clients beyond receiving payment for his services.

I watched the first season on Netflix but it took so long for the second season to arrive that me and the missus are now backed up on other stuff.

I liked how much it shared, visually and tempo-wise, with the original series. I will continue to watch at some point.
