I think that with the release of Just Breathe that Pearl Jam fans lost all moral high ground to make that type comparison to Creed.

pitchfork is to this review as pearl jam is to creed as Arms Wide Open is to Just Breathe.
Just Breathe isn't perfect but it's better than anything Creed ever wrote and is nothing like Creed.
Compare the two songs. I'd venture to say that Arms Wide Open is the much song in fact. Just Breathe is the epitomy of Mom&Dad rock.
Dad rock is a stupid fucking phrase and just breathe is a lovely song
thanks dad...

I'm pretty sure I'm still going to be listening to Yield when I'm in my 80's. So yeah, it kinda does.. :D

Still in a very firm "It's OK" category. This one will likely stay as is; still optimistic about this lightning bolt.

The nice thing about this song is that although it's got about as good as it'll get in my mind, it will get no worse. I can't see myself going off it; I have no reason to.

My mindset is that most of the launch singles from each album have been 'middle of the road' songs. So there has always been shittier songs on the album, but also quite a few better songs.

So if this is a middle of the road song for LB, then I'm really looking forward to the better tracks.

I really hope for no shit tracks at all; all decent, some good, a couple great. That alone would make this the best album since Riot Act and that's my biggest ambition for it. Then we can toss out S/T and Backspacer and we're good to go in terms of PJ's career from now on. Bish bash bosh, wham bam thankyou Ma'am, return to form. Come on the Pearl Jams.

This would be awesome. I'd love another consistently strong album, with no real filler. An album I can put on and listen to from start to finish, without just skipping to the handful of tracks that I normally like.

Yup. It might seem like an impossible dream at this point but I'm still holdin' tight to that dream of distant light.

No, but seriously, they've only written two mediocre albums out of nine. That's pretty good. I'm hoping they make it two out of ten.

I started out in the "OK" category, but I'm changing my mind. I like it. It's a solid B or B+ after about 20 listens.

fair point, but the reason it was a bit disappointing for me, I do not believe would be improved by a better recording. Unless the lack of response vocals after the first that's swell were equipment based.

Yeah.

I was thinking about Mike's comments about this album being WAY better than Backspacer. Could that be because he wrote the lead single, which happens to rock and have a solo? Mike's probably feeling pretty good about himself...

I bet Mike gets more geeked up about having one of his songs picked for a single than anyone else in the band, so good for him.
