Remember when Zack was supposed to be releasing a solo album sometime in the near future? Good times.
Still better than Lightning Bolt, anyways.

Re: Rage Against The Machine
He had that song come out a year or so ago that wasn't any good. Probably had to go back to the drawing board for another five years.

Never actually got around to listening to that track. Actually I'll probably do that now.verb_to_trust wrote:He had that song come out a year or so ago that wasn't any good. Probably had to go back to the drawing board for another five years.
But yeah, for me Zach de la Rocha being virtually radio silent during a period where we've really needed voices like his the most, save for a few RTJ album cameos (who, let's face it, have pretty much filled the musical void Rage occupied), is one of the most disappointing musical events in recent memory.
Still better than Lightning Bolt, anyways.

Re: Rage Against The Machine
Rage had their time. Their brand of music is a young man's game. To me, the explanation for the band not being active is that Zach understands and respects that it would ring hollow.

Anyone ever notice how in the Aughts, Zach only ever wears that rose colored button up shirt? That's kind of weird, right?

he needs to just release that goddamn thingbune wrote:He did an entire album with Trent Reznor, wtf ever happened to that.
his version of 'going through the motions' with DJ Shadow and Trent Reznor in the early 2000's is probably better than 97% of the music that has been released by everyone on planet earth since 2000from wikipedia:
Following the disbandment of Rage Against the Machine, de la Rocha worked on a solo album he had been recording since before the band's dissolution, working with DJ Shadow, El-P, Muggs, Dan The Automator, Roni Size, DJ Premier and Questlove with production partner James Poyser.[16] The album never came to fruition, and de la Rocha started a new collaboration with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, in which around 20 tracks were produced.[17] Reznor thought the work was "excellent",[17] but said the songs will likely never be released as de la Rocha was not "ready to make a record" at that time.[18] On working with DJ Shadow and Reznor, de la Rocha admitted in a 2008 interview that:
“ When I left Rage... first off, I was very heartbroken, and secondly, I became obsessed with completely reinventing my wheel. In an unhealthy way, to a degree. I kind of forgot that old way of allowing yourself to just be a conduit. When I was working with Trent and Shadow, I felt that I was going through the motions. Not that what was produced wasn't great, but I feel now that I've maybe reinvented the base sounds that emanate from the songs.[19]

Surprisingly I've found myself digging most of the new stuff that Prophets have bought out
