Re: God Is In The Radio / The Queens Of The Stone Age Thread
I can't believe everyone's rankings of QOTSA songs and albums is all over the place. It's almost like they're an awesome band with great songs and albums across their entire catalog! Wow!
I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd.

I'm going to work my way through these guy's discography this weekend.
I don't know enough of their stuff.
I started with the debut at work this arvo and enjoyed the tunes I heard before I left.
But in fairness, most stuff sounds good on a Friday afternoon with a beer in hand and the weekend upon us, eh?

I've listened to it 3 or 4 times and it's...it just sounds so dull. It never evolves. The production is so muted. It never "kicks in."KurtLeon wrote:I gotta say.

I'd say the bast way to listen to QOTSAs catalog, is foing backwards.
Starting with Clockwork and going to S/T.

I agree. Its so polished and numb, so poppy, its trying so hard to be sexy and catchy. I hated it.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I've listened to it 3 or 4 times and it's...it just sounds so dull. It never evolves. The production is so muted. It never "kicks in."KurtLeon wrote:I gotta say.

My only complaint. This and the fact that there is no descent bridge, and a repetitive riff all along the song.meatwad wrote:This is my complaint as well.LoathedVermin72 wrote: The production is so muted. It never "kicks in."
But it is catchy.

Totally agree with this. There are some good songs on the second album but you get the best stuff on PLDM.Strat wrote:If you do check out EODM, just listen to Peace, Love, and Death Metal.durdencommatyler wrote:Also, I've never listened to EODM. I like Them Crooked Vultures though.
Totally fun ridiculous garage rock.

Been binging the QOTSA discography now for the last few days and I keep coming back to Era Vulgaris. Some might call those songs cold and mehanicial, but it really hits a sweet spot for me with this band.
Stands outs are Misfit Love and Sick, Sick, Sick
Give me a few months and I'll rank
