Absolutely everything Obama did was wrong to Trump, so he will try to erase it all.

GOP sirens blare over Georgia special election

The GOP is bracing for the prospect of a loss in Tuesday’s Georgia’s special election that could have far-reaching implications for President Donald Trump and his party’s fortunes in 2018.

As grim confidential polling data circulates among GOP strategists, interviews with nearly two dozen Republican operatives and officials reveal that they are preparing for the possibility of an unnerving defeat that could spur lawmakers to distance themselves from Trump and his already-troubled legislative agenda, and potentially encourage a wave of retirements.

“If Ossoff wins, you’re going to see the floodgates open, with Democrats recruiting candidates in races from governor to county commission,” said Randy Evans, an influential Republican National Committeeman from Georgia.
maybe the ruskies will intervene online and Mr. Snrub will narrowly defeat Ossoff in a low-turnout race

Because if the likes of CNN and WaPo stop coming in, the White House either

A. Uses their absense to revoke their press passes, saying "they don't even want one clearly." And then eventually the briefings are for Fox, Breitbart, and RT.

or

B. The White House just ceases all briefings, blaming the press's "unwillingness" to hear their information.

C. Their entire revenue stream is based on Trump bashing, so they both go under. Well not WaPo. Bezos used that the crush Bernie then harass Trump. He'll find some other use for it to convince us we are reading news.

I'm fine with both of those outcomes. No news comes out of these briefings, regardless of who is president. If the White House wants to lie to the American people, they can just tell Fox the lie and have it passed on.

The White House can issue whatever statements they want. They could just release videos of Sean Spicer reading shit. Other than that, what happens in those press briefings? CNN asks a question, and Spicer insults them and doesn't answer it. Why is there a briefing for that?

If the press stopped showing up, the White House would keep issuing their "news" but the press would have more time for actually investigating real news.

Establishing a norm where more traditional, mainstream outlets lose credentials or the white house stops communicating with the public entirely is not a good thing. It's the presses job to show up, and report on what happens. If the white house is putting up hoops for them to jump through, that's part of the story they have to report on.

The White House isn't going to stop communicating to the public if the press briefings stop. Trump wants Americans to know that his health care plan is tremendous or that his inauguration crowd is yuge. They'll get that message out. There's no reason the press outlets need to subject themselves to ridicule for no other purpose than to pass on Trump's lies.
