I agree with LV...They were making their movie, they were working to have whatever they wanted to...I saw Rogue One again and the reshoots en reediting of that mess is so fuckin noticeable i dont understand why they hire directors if they dont care about their artistic input...all they want is to play safe specially because audiences are so fucking numb all they want is a copy of a copy. Thats it.

You and (especially) LV have a director's bias. And there's nothing wrong with that. I can totally understand why you're taking the position you're taking here. I have a writer's bias, admittedly. So, of course, I'm going to side more with Disney here. Because as much as I want a director to have a vision and to be able to exercise their creativity on a project, I also believe that film is collaborative. And the writer's work is important, too. Especially on a project like this. These are established characters in some established worlds. It's far more important to be true to the characters here. To listen to them and let them dictate. To me, that's far more important than whatever wack-a-do concept Lord and Miller may have had. They agreed to join a project that already has established mythology and tradition. I'm fine with expanding that mythology and changing the rules of that tradition but it can't be done in a vacuum.

I'd be on L&M's side if this was their own original concept. In that case, absolutely! Let them have complete control. Let them piss their vision all over everything and everyone; mark their territory and demand obedience. This is different.

If Lord and Miller want to make a gonzo slapstick space comedy, then good on them. They should go make that movie. And if/when they do, they should have complete creative control and freedom.

If no bridges were actually burned on either side, I'd love to see Lord and Miller come back some day and tell their version of a Star Wars story that involves new characters, characters they get to help create and design and takes place in a time/place/land that's fresh and calling for exploration.

Joey, you realize that ¨fresh and exploration¨ is not something that ´ll happen with a brand like SW right? They had that opportunity with Rogue One and they did re shoots and redited the movie because the tone was too dark or something. They even put R2 there.
I guess the worst part of this is the overall feeling i have that this is a waste of time. The movie, the fans, the trailers..is just a waste of time. There will be nothing new here, its just a big fan service...and when it feels there could be a new angle, its taken down...All i really care about SW is episode 8.

I was against a Solo origin movie anyway.

Nope. It wasn't fresh or interesting it all. It was edited and reshot to be just like every other Star Wars movie. It offered nothing new. It was a pointless film with no redeeming value. They even put R2 there!
