Yeah, I think that's just baseless speculation, there's nothing in that scene that suggests to me it's anyone we already know.durdencommatyler wrote:So, everyone seems pretty confident that the young nameless lady -- who has a nuclear frog-bug crawl into her mouth while she's sleeping -- is Sarah Palmer. And that's certainly possible. But what if that she's Linda of Richard and Linda? What if this young couple in 1956 is who The Giant/?????? is reminding Coop of in the first episode?

Re: Twin Peaks [2017]
My thoughts as well. I have seen some interesting speculation (Grace Zabriski's real life DOB seems to fit and IF that weird frog-bug thing's egg IS actually the same orb that Laura's face was in, then maybe that makes some kind of sense?). But, I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking (as of right now) that it's just as likely a new character as it is someone we know.Birds in Hell wrote:Yeah, I think that's just baseless speculation, there's nothing in that scene that suggests to me it's anyone we already know.durdencommatyler wrote:So, everyone seems pretty confident that the young nameless lady -- who has a nuclear frog-bug crawl into her mouth while she's sleeping -- is Sarah Palmer. I thought the implication was that the moth/frog thing was malicious (and very possibly BOB), it hatched from the same kind of egg as expelled by the creature at the time of the atomic blast. The Woodsman was lulling the townspeople into sleep to assist the moth/frog in finding a host.

That makes a ton of sense to me, too. I've seen people talking about how we see Laura's bubble go into the map immediately before we see the egg/frog/bug thing. Which lead those folks to assume it had something to do with Laura. I don't recall the exact order of the shots or anything like that. But, yeah, I'm on your team here, Spenno.

I've only watched each episode once, but didn't the thing that puked out Bob sort of look like the thing that appeared in the glass box in Episode 1? And the way the Gotta Light Guy left those people reminded me of how those kids were killed in Episode 1.

Yeah, the scenes do follow each other, but I don't think they're presented in a way to suggest they're connected chronologically. Those Lodge-related spaces exist outside of linear time ("is it future or is it past?" etc.)

Re: Twin Peaks [2017]
The thing that barfed Bob is credited as "Experiment." The thing in the box that killed the horny couple in Ep 1 is credited as the same. So, yes, I think it's safe to say it's the same thing. The Experiment's head also looks like the strange blob that's on the playing card that Dopple Coop holds up and shows Daria. Which is fucking INTERESTING.Simple Torture wrote:I've only watched each episode once, but didn't the thing that puked out Bob sort of look like the thing that appeared in the glass box in Episode 1? It sure did, and also looks very much like the drawing on Bad Coop's Ace of Spades card.Simple Torture wrote:I've only watched each episode once, but didn't the thing that puked out Bob sort of look like the thing that appeared in the glass box in Episode 1? Didn't he say "this is what I'm looking for?" (or similar) to Darya?

It's hard (or impossible) to tell with this show. I have no idea how chronological or linear any of this is supposed to be. And I'm totally okay with that.

I saw this pointed out elsewhere and found it interesting, the work of photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto may have been an influence on the aesthetic of Part 8:

On top of that, I was getting a Bioshock-ish vibe from all of the Giant scenes.

I'm on the fence about this one. Having the girl actually be Sarah Palmer adds a significant amount of sadness to her character, since back then she seemed so innocent, and now she's an (understandably) absolute mess.durdencommatyler wrote:My thoughts as well. Re: Twin Peaks [2017]
That was absolutely one of the most enjoyable/trippy/masterful hours of TV or Film I've ever watched.
I think I followed what was going on for the most part. BOB as a manifestation of the evil in our world was "birthed" by the first use of nuclear weaponry in New Mexico. Yes?
What I didn't get was the appearance of Laura's face. Does that mean she is (or was) some sort of larger allegorical figure too? Was she marked for corruption/death by BOB before ever being born? I'm obviously grasping at straws & it doesn't really matter, but fuck this was all so fascinating! Best show ever, man.

Re: Twin Peaks [2017]
I feel like, if Laura Palmer was supposed to be sent as some sort of counter to Bob and she failed (as in Bob destroyed her by becoming her father though what he really wanted was to BECOME HER), then that seems to tell us something meaningful about Dale Cooper.

I expect you may have seen/read this elsewhere, however the music during the scene where the shadowy woodsmen "heal" Bad Coop/extract BOB/whatever the hell they were doing is a warbly ambient cassette recording of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata slowed way down:

Thanks for this. That piece of music was perfect for that scene. Minimal and mysterious with a subtle suggestion of humming electricity that is starting to feel like a major theme in this mythology.Birds in Hell wrote:I expect you may have seen/read this elsewhere, however the music during the scene where the shadowy woodsmen "heal" Bad Coop/extract BOB/whatever the hell they were doing is a warbly ambient cassette recording of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata slowed way down:
