I'm spinning her debut record right now and my god it's just so lovely. I'm pretty sure Annie is incapable of recording mediocre music.

Apparently if it's friday where you live, you can listen to the new single "New York" on Spotify.
I can't fucking wait.

I liked the new song!
I think it was a bit closer to her debut album than the rest of them, which surprised me.

Love the new song. Kind of a piano ballad buried under some classic St. V weird production. I have a feeling it isn't super indicative of the new record as a whole (i.e. guitars) but I'm dying to hear..

Also the wife had a similar observation about it being more reminiscent of her first two records. Definitely reminded me of things from Actor. All good signs moving forward!

I like the new song. It's not what I was hoping for, but its a nice song.
Indeed sounds like her first 2 records...

It's also the song she played a year ago....dressed as a toilet...

Could be the reason why she released this one first.

It reminds me way more of Teenage Talk than anything from here first two records. And I fucking DIG it. What a powerful ballad. I'm hearing it as a heart on sleeve break-up song. The lyrics really moved me.

Nice song; chorus falls a bit flat for me but I love the verses. She's really talented at unexpected yet memorable melodies.

Yes, very similar to Teenage Talk as well. Can't wait for this record!

Also, her cover of Krokodil came up on shuffle this morning. That is a fantastic song for getting one revved up when one is feeling slow.

Something different from the ST. I want a big guitar album, almost rock and roll classic in its core.

Im very worried about the guy from Bleachers working with her...

I'm not expecting anything from her. She's a goddamn artist and my only expectation is that she records music that is meaningful to her. I don't really care how guitar driven it is or whatever.

I get what you mean, ill probably like a poppy new version of ST too...but i think she is in place where she can make something else and blow my mind...And im worried she is working with producers that are not going to take her into a very cool and different direction.

Maybe. But she seems like the kinda chick who does what she wants to do. I think if this is the style of music she's into right now, then that's the style she's into right now. And I just want to try and appreciate what she's feeling more than I want to waste time wishing she'd do something I want/like more. Or whatever. I want to evaluate the songs for what they are, not what they aren't.

I really like this new song, though. Doesn't mean I'll like her new record. But I love the raw emotion and vulnerability and mood of 'New York.' I think it's a strong and poignant track.

I was disappointed with that track. Felt like a b side from the st. Or a throwaway track. Its still a good song, but i wasnt blown away or compelled to listen to it again.

I actually hope it just a single and not a song from a new album.
