High Noon is just okay and No Country isn't really even a western

I love High Noon. I have no idea what technically classifies a film as a western. But I goddamn love No Country. It's far and away better than any of the other films being discussed so far (that I've see, of course). So, yeah, maybe it isn't a western. That would make sense.

Oh, I also really liked Hell or High Water. Is that one also not a western?

They are westerns in a sense. Classic westerns take place west of the Mississippi between the 1830s and about 1910. There are many sub genres that go beyond that. Osterns take place in Russia! There are also neo-westerns, which takes place in the American west post 1910, but use the same themes and background as the classic western.

It was a big time for the entire world. Everything changed. While some Norwegians were among the first to populate the US in the 1600s, from 1825 to 1920 (peaked in the 1880s) nearly a million Norwegians travelled to America. You had the last stretch of truly new land (all respect to Native Americans) left in the world to explore for Europeans. A new nation was created, that came to have a great influence on the world. And you had some great stories along the way.

If I'm not mistaken it's one of Hackman's last films. He and Clint are absolutely brilliant in it. As is Morgan Freeman. God damn. Now I want to watch it again.
