No way is it a top ten PJ song. Ed sounds off, the No Way part is just strange.

Some of my favorites on No Code are Present Tense, Red Mosquito, and Lukin. All second halfers.

DTE, Low Light, In Hiding, All Those Yesterdays all in the second half. Vs Brain of J, Faithfull, GTF in the first half. That's quite even.

I love the second half of No Code, but I agree that the first half is amazing.

I would have said No Code and Yield are pretty constant the whole way through

Off He Goes is a perfectly fine song. I'm Open was named poem of the month by a junior high creative writing club.

Off He Goes is unquestionably better than I'm Open, but it is still mid tier PJ at best.

The lyrics from Off He Goes really speaks to me. Both with people I have known (like my father), and what it meant to Pearl Jam at the time. Nothing's changed but the surrounding bullshit. The music is simple but beautiful, and Ed's vocals are perfect. Some of his very best.

Top 20:
In My Tree (No Code, 1996)
Sad (Lost Dogs, 2003)
Black (Ten, 1991)
Corduroy (Vitalogy, 1994)
Immortality (Vitalogy, 1994)
Release (Ten, 1991)
Nothing As It Seems (Binaural, 2000)
Insignificance (Binaural, 2000)
Off He Goes (No Code, 1996)
In Hiding (Yield, 1998)
Given To Fly (Yield, 1998)
Rearviewmirror (Vs., 1993)
Sometimes (No Code, 1996)
Habit (No Code, 1996)
I Am Mine (Riot Act, 2003)
Not For You (Vitalogy, 1994)
Smile (No Code, 1996)
I Got Id (Merkin Ball, 1996)
Faithfull (Yield, 1998)
Hail Hail (No Code, 1996)

Yknow.

If happy when I'm crying was on Yield? It would be the greatest fucking record of all time.

It would eclipse all the blindspots and elevate the whole record.

I love, love, love Off He Goes. One of the band's very best - Jack's drums on that song, Ed's voice, the way the guitars sound... :nice:
