Oh. My. Lord. That was bad. No wonder it was reviewed so shitty and in theaters for so little time. I've never seen a wonderful story so hacked to pieces for the big screen before. Characters merged into one, important plot and character development plot points were completely missing. Total hack job and flimsy.

I wasn't expecting this to be some sort of masterpiece but i was hoping for something entertaining. Makes me wonder if the writers and filmmakers involved actually read the book. If so, very curious as to what they deemed was important in the telling of the story.

oof.
I only saw the trailer and you could feel that it was a piece of garbage.

"Finding Dory" totally not what I had expected

Lost City of Z
Their Finest - good acting, but not something I'll be rushing to watch again

Watched Masterminds Saturday afternoon. My god that was trash. I'm still pissed at myself for watching it.

I watched the stanford prison experiment the following day and that made up for the Saturday misstep. Solid film.

Nope.

Watched Moana finally and it was pretty good. Some dumb parts that was like "Hey, so, you have The Rock here and you're doing The Rock's eyebrow thing...can you not do that, maybe?" Some of the songs were really good - they have a great voice for Moana - and some of the songs were just good - The Rock's song - and then there was "Shiny". Weird.

Watched Uncle Buck and wow I totally forgot they made movies like that. Such a strange movie now. They never did explain the whole "he's a slob who suddenly dresses better for no apparent reason". And I lost track of the number of times they were like, "This is a funny scene but we don't know how to make it work for the movie at large. Oh well, we filmed it so it goes in!" The blank checks at the beginning where it was hinted he would use them in a nefarious way but were never brought up again. The birthday party mentioned in parting with a "never mind, we'll be back in time" and they weren't but it wasn't explained at all. The trouble at school and suddenly there are kids at his party? I know there are others but I can't be bothered.

Saw Despicable Me 3 yesterday with my nephew. I really like that Pharrell song "Yellow Light" at the end of it.

It's my daughter's least favorite. She can sing the most words to "You're Welcome" so we listen to that on repeat for half the day, basically.

My son had seen the movie several times before we watched it together - sleepovers, music class - so he's been singing it for months. No idea why it's his favorite, unless he's a closet Bowie fan and we have some albums to listen to over summer vacation!

1. It's cheaper and faster for me to get to and get out of than going all the way into the city
2. I'm not sure if it's just the new mall or the new neighborhood around the new mall, but "New Roc City" is a cool name for either one
3. There are a lot of taco places. Like a lot.
4. There's a Chinese buffet, and the owner's kids are really cute and just walk around saying hi to people and playing with other kids
5. tbd
