I am glad they continued the vault series. It is a very good show. I get aggregated and disappointed when their vault show is chopped and when it's already well-circulated above-average-quality-source show.

Next vault show: Give Way.

Hard to compare a show that's long been available in official release quality (Give Way) to one that's acknowledged as a classic show yet only ever been available on a variety of pretty bad sounding sources. It's not like they're releasing Atlanta 1994, Berlin 1996 or Melbourne 1995.

As for being chopped, the chances of the band sitting on a treasure trove of complete multitrack recordings from pre-2000 are pretty much nil. They weren't recording these shows with the intention of release, it's pretty amazing they have what they do. I think it's advisable to expect every Vault release to be missing something.

Exactly Spenno - well said.

What we do know is that they started recording all shows in multitrack from the beginning of the Yield tour - the PJ20 book says they originally planned to put out a show from the Australia/NZ tour (then went with LO2L instead), so hopefully we'll get something from that last Jack tour eventually. Knowing 10C it'll probably be Melbourne 1998-03-05 :?

The Soldier Field sources that circulate are not bad. Not even close. Give Way is a nice lazy next choice. I was making no correlation between the two. Just a guess on what comes next.

The missing tracks are the last 7 songs of the show so they obviously just ran out of tape :(

Or lost them :gomez:

I would have taken them just slapping the digital tracks on another LP

Just do the sensible thing and buy the digital files instead, Strat.

Putting the digital files on an extra LP would be the sensible thing to do. Still glad they have released this officially. A good show.

Are people vinyl fetishists to the insane degree that they want a crummy sounding radio broadcast included just because, well, it's on vinyl?

No answer necessary, of course.

Its my preferred way to listen to music. Why is that so strange? I love collecting them, i love pulling them out and putting them on a table and letting the needle head downward. its fun. I enjoy it. Im not arguing sound quality, im just saying that I enjoy this process the best. And i do love the big artwork and all that jazz. Thats okay, spenno.

And for tossing the digital tracks on at the end on a new LP ? Well that would just be nice so i can continue listening in such a way.

Ill also have the digital tracks.

In your opinion. The fact that it's only available in mono should be enough of a reason not to complain.

I understand wanting to listen to a studio album on vinyl, particularly one that was originally sequenced for release that way (eg. records that have a well thought out side A and B, etc.) It seems like a monumentally weird way to listen to a whole live show, though - changing countless vinyl sides and whatnot.
